Today we celebrate the Nurses Ball, The annual event of GH that was a 3 Hr, 2 day event that was featured both on GH, and its sister show, 'Port Charles'. Every June from 1994 to 2001, The Nurses Ball highlighted the talent of both shows and really pulled out all the stops of raising awareness of HIV and AIDS. See  the FULL Playlist of all the Nurse's Balls Here. Notice in the 1995 Ball, The Mother of Ryan White attended and spoke about Children with AIDS. In 1996, Janis Ian made an appearance. Also Look for Ricky Martin at the 1994 and 1995 Balls as Miguel Morez. After a 12 Year absence, the Nurses Ball is Back and will serve as a backdrop for the show's 50th Anniversary. If you're wondering why Facebook has gone red this week it's because the Supreme Court is hearing arguments on Prop 8 and marriage equality.

Let's hope SCOTUS can distinguish between privilege and equality. Even people close to me biologically have trouble understanding this is a civil issue and not some kind of "special rights".

One of the litigants in a case is Edie Windsor who had to pay estate taxes to the tune of $360K after the death of her partner of 44 years - money she wouldn't have to pay if her partner were a man. Or my friend Lavi Soloway who has for years been fighting to stop DOMA and deportation of same-sex partners with foreign-born partners. The fact I have never been able to consider the option marrying my foreign born partners so they could stay in the USA. Consider the 1,138 rights and privileges granted by the government to married couples denied to some in the land of all men created equal.

HitRECord, an online collaborative production company founded by actor and director Joseph Gordon-Levitt, released the above video earlier this week. The two-minute short shows a stunning collection of contributor- and audience-submitted clips of various "flickering lights" — reflections on rivers, candles on birthday cakes, cell phones scattered across a packed theater.

The concept originated from a poem by HitRECord member Wirrow, called "Give Me All The Flickering Lights," which is recited in the video.

Colton Dixon, 21, is an American singer from Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He placed seventh on the eleventh season of American Idol. On January 29, 2013 Dixon released his album A Messenger, which sold 22,000 copies in its first week. It debuted at number 15 on the Billboard Hot 200, number one on the U.S. Christian Chart and number one on the U.S. Gospel Chart. Dixon and Jessica Sanchez held a concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Manila on February 14. Dixon and Josh Wilson (musician) are supporting Third Day on The Miracle Tour, the tour started on February 21st 2013 in Fairfax, Va and ends on May 19th 2013 in Orlando, Fl. Colton Dixon's sister Schyler is also on the tour on some dates.

Michelle Shocked, the alternative folk singer who announced at a San Francisco gig that "God hates faggots" (Or not? She apologized? Whatever), probably hasn't gained any new fans in the past week. Still, I think her strange case warrants real attention. In today's Weeklings!, I discuss why Michelle Shocked's awful opinion matters more to me than, say, the opinion of most current Billboard hitmakers. Then for the hell of it, I talk about how other female singer-songwriters have hurt my feelings too, though not in as extreme ways. Annie Lennox, I'm taking you down, girl.

(SHOWCASE) G.B.F., a Teen Comedy!

Darren Stein, who directed Jawbreaker, is putting finishing touches (and crowd-funding them) on a new teen high school comedy with a gay protagonist, called G.B.F., which finished shooting last October and is set to screen at the Tribeca Film Festival next month.

G.B.F. tells the story of two closeted best friends, Tanner (Michael J. Willett, United States of Tara) and Brent (Paul Iacono, The Hard Times of R.J. Berger). Brent longs for the spotlight and has a plan that will make him the most popular kid in school. He believes that coming out will make him instantly popular, as the newest must-have teen girl “accessory”: The G.B.F. (Gay Best Friend). (OUTscene AMERICA) INTER-view: Getting Candid with Jaymes Vaughan; 'A Total Doll'!

You know him as the gay-half of the Chippendale’s duo that won America’s hearts during the 21st season of “The Amazing Race”. People all of the country fell in love with Jaymes Vaughan and his BFF, James Davis as they tried to win the grand prize to help Jaymes’ father battle a rare form of cancer. Though the show may be over, it looks like Jaymes Vaughan’s Amazing Journey is just beginning. Following his team’s respectable second place finish, the heart throb is in high-demand.

“It’s unbelievable the response we (he and his TAR teammate) have received. I feel like a Kardashian!” he jokes. “Amazing Race has opened so many doors for us. We’ve been asked to make public appearances, speak at charity events, been on several TV shows (including “Ellen”), and were just finished filming the pilot for a reality series AND a travel show.” Though all of the high profile media events are exciting for Jaymes, what he has really enjoyed the most is educating young people.

“I hope to be able to take advantage of a platform the show has given me. I want to be an example for anyone who doesn’t feel like they fit in. As a fourteen-year-old growing up in rural Chesterfield County, Virginia I had no one to look up to. My mama told me I better not be gay and my church told me gay people would go to hell. I also had a best friend who killed himself because he didn’t fit in. I know what it feels like to be hopeless. Let me tell you there is always hope. If someone like me can make it, anyone can.”

Wil Traval, 32,  is an Australian actor most known for his work as Dr. Jack Quade on All Saints, an Australian hospital drama. Traval was born on a strawberry farm near Colac in country Victoria. He graduated from high school at the age of 16. His passion for acting began in high school when he and his friends spent their time making short films. He cast himself in many roles including a werewolf and a psychopath. He won numerous cinematography and directing awards at short film festivals. He studied Media and Literature at La Trobe University, but later he decided he would prefer to study at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). This led to him working a diverse selection of jobs including cook, hay baler, food critic, waiter, paver and personal assistant. He was originally denied entry to NIDA due to his young age. He continued to apply each year, until his persistence finally paid off. Traval is currently plays Irwin Petrova on RED WIDOW.

Chris Masters, 30, is an American professional wrestler best known by his ring name Chris Masters. He is best known for his tenure with WWE.

During the weekend of SummerSlam 2012, Masters posted a controversial photo depicting himself holding a gun pointed toward his head on Twitter. It was rumored that he was under the influence of alcohol, but nothing was ever confirmed. Later, he apologized for the incident, claiming that he's not suicidal.

Today (From 1993 to 2013)  In 1984, Luke and Laura decide to leave Port Charles and their enemies behind and travel the world, but not before Laura reveals she is pregnant. Later that year, Laura's mother Lesley appears to die in a car accident arranged by the Cassadine family.

While traveling for 10 years, Laura has Luke's son Lucas Lorenzo Spencer, Jr., who they nickname Lucky (played by Jonathan Jackson). From prison, Frank Smith (then played by Mitchell Ryan) tracks them down and bombs a truck in the parking lot of the Triple L Diner in Canada where the family had been hiding, killing one of their friends. Lucky arrives in Port Charles alone and meets Luke's aunt Ruby Anderson (Norma Connolly), and is shortly joined by his parents. Frank's son Damian Smith (Leigh McCloskey) convinces Luke his family will remain unharmed if he joins Frank's protege Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) in a scheme to smuggle in illegal aliens. Lucky and Laura run through the Hospital chased by Mobsters. Luke and Sonny agree to break Frank out of prison. The friends also agree to kill Frank once they do. Frank, however, uses Laura as a shield so he can escape. Luke and Laura attempt to track Frank down. They enlist the help of Jennifer Smith (Roseanne Barr), who has since married slimy Billy "Baggs" Boggs (portrayed by Barr's then husband Tom Arnold). Luke is finally able to kill Frank, though his children would continue to torment the couple.
