Since it is Christmas, I remember 2 of the greatest Legends I had the opportunity to meet that both have contributed to the Holiday in a Big way. 

This Week marks the 15th anniversary of the passing of Eartha Kitt (Who is known for the classic, 'Santa Baby') and I remember meeting her as she performed at Seattle's Jazz Alley in 2004. After the show, I made way to her dressing room and was greeted by her publicist, "Are you Mr. Scott?". I said "Yes". The publicist then added, "We have been expecting you!"

(Time Warp) James Dean's Death was 68 years ago TODAY!

On September 30, 1955, actor James Dean was driving his new Porsche 550 Spyder to an auto rally in Salinas, California when he was involved in a head-on collision with a 1950 Ford Tutor. James Dean, only 24 years old, died in the crash. 

En route to Salinas, Dean was pulled over by police officers near Bakersfield for speeding around 3:30 p.m. After being stopped, Dean and Wuetherich continued on their way. Two hours later, around 5:30 p.m., they were driving westbound on Highway 466 (now called State Route 46), when a 1950 Ford Tutor pulled out in front of them. Twenty-three-year-old Donald Turnupseed, who was driving the Ford Tutor, has been traveling east on Highway 466 and was attempting to make a left turn onto Highway 41. Unfortunately, Turnupseed had already started to make his turn before he saw the roaring Porsche traveling quickly toward him. Without time to turn, the two cars smashed nearly head-on.

This is an interview I did with Candis Cayne in 2010, actually 5 yrs ago this week. Candis was chosen to be a Grand Marshal for the Vancouver BC Pride and we had met previously that January in West Hollywood at her then-weekly show at the Abbey. These days she is still in demand and even Laverne Cox has given Cayne raves for opening the door for Trans Actresses in Hollywood. Now, Cayne is" hanging and being a mentor" to Caitlyn Jenner and will be a regular on the E! Series, "I am Cait" airing tonight. Here is my 2010 interview, sorry for the quality, I was using my camera phone.

3 years ago Today, former Arizona, congresswoman, Gabby Giffords was one of many that were gunned down. If it hadn't been for her Gay Intern it would have been worse.

In June 2011, I ran into LGBT Rights Activist and 'Hero', Daniel Hernandez, Jr at Seattle Pridefest and asked about being asked as Grand Marshall for the Seattle Pride Parade and doesn't consider himself a Hero, even though he saved Gabby Giffords Life!

It has been quite a year for Seattle Based Actor and Drag Superstar, Jinkx Monsoon, last January she starred as Hedwig at Balagan and within 4 Months, was the toast of the Drag world as winner of Rupaul's Drag Race Season 5, playing Velma in 5th Ave's Hairspray Concert and success in New York with her show the Vaudvillians. Jinkx returned to Seattle and is once again
doing double duty in Delacreme's  'Homo for the Holidays', and returning for Balagan's 'Hedwig and the Angry Inch", for this week only. As Actor, Jerick Hoffer, it is about his craft. So I caught up with the Man about his creation back before it all exploded.

(OUTscene NW) CLASSIC: Broadway RE-view of 'Priscilla' Musical currently at Seattle's Paramount!

Priscilla, Queen of the Desert the Musical was in Seattle this week. I however did not see the tour, but I can re-post the review of the Broadway show in August 2011.

During this NY trip I was mostly anticipating seeing the Priscilla Queen of the Desert musical, not because I am a big fan of the movie but to see a glimpse of the gorgeous, Nick Adams (See Interview), Tony nominee, Tony Sheldon, and the Handsome, Will Swenson. The story is so campy and the music was familiar, and is by far the Gayest show to ever hit Broadway!

(SLGFF 2013) MK chats with Big Joy directors, Eric Slade and Stephen Sila!

When I saw the trailer for Big Joy; The James Broughton Story and was intrigued with the persona of the man, but what I learned was Broughton was a Queer Pioneer in the same league as Harry Hay (They had an affair back in the 30's) and was part of the Radical poet group, Pre-Beatnik (The Allen Ginsberg era) and an Avant Garde Filmmaker, Pre-Warhol.

During this year's SIFF (Seattle International Film Festival), I had a chance to chat with the Filmmaker of the fascinating Doc.

I saw this film and met the cast at The 2012  Seattle International Film Festival and now you can get it on DVD, from the good peeps at Wolfe! 

  SIFF hosted its World Premiere of Matthew Mishory's"Joshua Tree, 1951: A Portrait of James Dean", . The details the time  where he was a student at UCLA and his relationship with his Roommate, and other. The Film stars former Abercrombie and Fitch Model, James Preston as Dean, and  Dan Glenn as "The Roommate". I chatted with Preston, Glenn, and Mishory about the film.
