With so much talk of bullying in schools and kids committing suicide (especially the gay ones) I decided that much like the popular "It Gets Better" videos that I needed to try and empower the gay kids out there with what I thought would help them get through the dark times of taunting in school. What could I add to the mix when so many celebrities and licensed therapists seemed to be covering this topic so well? I went back to my childhood and I think I found an angle that some kids (and adults) may not be thinking about, so here it is, not only does it get better but gays ARE better! A few weeks back, I posted coverage from the LA premiere of the National Tour of 'It Gets Better' the Musical, and since then they have been traveling to Middle America (Even Kansas)  and back and we were lucky enough for the final stop to be the Hometown of the It Gets Better founders, Dan Savage and Terry Miller.

The production was written/directed by Liesel Reinhart with members of the Gay Men's Chorus of LA as well as few chosen from a Nation wide search. The 6 person cast was diverse and came from different backgrounds.

(MY View) Is It Time to Stop Covering Gay Youth Suicides?

When I was an 18-year-old, closeted Private in the United States Army, after dealing with seemingly endless torment from superiors and coworkers that was both homophobic and racist, I waited until all my roommates weren't home, took a bottle of vodka and pills into the restroom and closed the door behind me. I didn't expect to come out alive. I wanted to kill myself, because I felt isolated, alone and shunned by my coworkers as well as by my conservative Christian mother. For me, suicide was both an escape from my problems and a solution to them. Thankfully, I have an older sister who was there for me when I needed her, and her calming voice on the other end of the phone line stopped me from making a serious mistake.

I have traveled all across the country speaking about my own experiences with suicide, coming out and "don't ask, don't tell," and there is not a single place I visit where someone doesn't share with me his or her own story about a friend or family member who has been touched by these issues. Sometimes they just want a hug, and I can feel their bodies quake with the sobs as they remember their friends or loved ones who have been lost forever.

Hopefully Adele wasn't wasting any time on Twitter after the birth of her son, because some "hateful trolls," as Mashable calls them, weren't exactly sending good wishes. Quite a few tweets mocked the singer's weight, including one from Joan Rivers: 

"Congratulations to Adele on the birth of her 68 pound 8 ounces bouncing baby boy." Sadly, Adele is far from the first celebrity to be bullied online; Celebuzz rounds up eight more:

• Melanie Griffith was in for a nasty surprise when she recently joined Twitter. "Most people are telling me I look horrible," she revealed.
• LeAnn Rimes actually ended up in rehab after her Twitter bullying.
• Paris Jackson has a healthy attitude about the cyberbullying she's endured: "They try to get to me with words, but that doesn't really work."
• After criticizing the vice-presidential debate, Tamera Mowry-Housley was attacked by people who took her for a Paul Ryan supporter. Her Fox News correspondent husband, Adam Housley, defended her.

(MY view) Was Jesus a Homophobe?

A high school principal in Waynesville, Ohio would like you to know that it is "indecent" to say that Jesus is not a homophobe. That's right. Somehow, standing up for Jesus and defending him against charges that he fears and hates people is "inappropriate." And this comes to light during Holy Week, no less. How many indignities does Jesus have to suffer?

It all began when Maverick Couch, a high school student in Waynesville, Ohio, wore a T-shirt that says "Jesus Is Not a Homophobe" to observe the annual National Day of Silence last April, a day sponsored by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Eduction Network (GLSEN) in which thousands of schools participate to bring attention to bullying in schools.

(MY view) Rick Santorum and the Pink Bowling Ball: A Man with a Bully Complex!

Over the past few weeks it seems Rick Santorum has accused anyone who even remotely gets under his skin of being a "bully." He called Mitt Romney a "bully" back in February. Earlier in the week, at a campaign event in Wisconsin, he called unions "bullies." And he accused New York Times reporter Jeff Zeleny of trying to "bully" him.

But an incident at a campaign stop at a bowling alley yesterday betrays that Santorum is so obsessed with bullies because he looks at one one every morning in the mirror.

According to Reuters reporter Sam Youngman, who tweeted what he heard, Santorum had some advice for a little boy who was reaching for a pink bowling ball: "You're not gonna use the pink ball. We're not gonna let you do that. Not on camera."

Santorum may just as well have called the kid a "fag." Or was there some other thing he was implying the kid would look like if he used the pink bowling ball? I can't think of one, can you?

The Tennessee lawmaker behind the "Don't Say Gay" bill that cleared the state Senate earlier this year is getting a lot of attention for comments he made in defense of the legislation. And it's not good attention. In a SiriusXM interview with Michelangelo Signorile published on the Huffington Post, state Sen. Stacey Campfield justified his bill by, among other things, explaining that AIDS came from "one guy screwing a monkey." The interview covers more of Campfield's thoughts on AIDS, bullying, and homosexuality, which Tennessee schools would not be able to discuss under his bill:
