(MY VIEW) A Letter to Paris Hilton!

by Justin Hernandez

Dear Paris,

I let a few days pass by before posting this letter to you. My first draft was filled with cheap shots about your level of intelligence, your waning popularity, and references to the sex video that put you on the map. I realized that if I submitted that version, I would be allowing my anger to take the lead, and that is not my intention. I do want to express my disappointment with your poor choice of words about the gay community; however, I'm hopeful that I can enlighten you in the process.

First of all, there is a difference between HIV and AIDS. HIV can lead to AIDS, but thanks to advances in medicine, many people who have the HIV virus are able to lead healthy lives. These people have high T-cell levels, and in many cases they have an undetectable viral load. Dismissive statements such as "most [men who use Grindr] probably have AIDS" only hinder the progress of public awareness.

(FALL HUNKS) Jonny Lee Miller from 'ELEMENTARY'!

"Jonny" Lee Miller, 40,  is an English actor. During the initial days he was best known for his roles in the 1995 film Hackers and the 1996 film Trainspotting. Miller worked steadily in film and theatre with less public notice until 2008, when he starred in two seasons of American TV series Eli Stone followed by lead roles in the Broadway play After Miss Julie and the BBC production of Emma. In 2010 he had a featured role on the Showtime series Dexter as the fifth season's chief antagonist Jordan Chase. In 2011 he starred, along with Benedict Cumberbatch, in the play Frankenstein at the National Theatre. Miller played Roger Collins in Tim Burton's film Dark Shadows, which opened 11 May 2012.

In February 2012 it was confirmed Miller had been cast as Sherlock Holmes in the CBS drama Elementary (Starts Tonight on CBS) . Lucy Liu was later cast as Watson.

(SOAP Q) Thom Bierdz Sings Video Letter To Y&R’s EP Jill Farren Phelps: “Why Can’t The Gay Chancellor Have a Date?”

In the “we-thought-we-have-seen-everything” category, The Young and the Restless artistically creative Thom Bierdz (Phillip Chancellor III) posted an open letter video-style to Y&R’s new executive producer, Jill Farren Phelps!

In it, Bierdz sings to Phelps a little ditty he wrote with lines like:  “There is no gay love on the number one soap.”  And, “Why can’t the Gay Chancellor have a date?”  Bierdz is apparently asking Phelps to create a gay romance for Phillip and bring him back to the top rated CBS soap, where thus far there has still never been a telling of a gay love story.

(HOW TO) How to tell if you are gay!

(SHOWCASE) Film Explores a Gay Man's Twilight Years!

Bwakaw A film about being gay and growing old is getting attention in the Phillippines where it was made, and has been submitted as the country's Academy Awards entry for Best Foreign Film, the WSJ reports: The movie stars Eddie Garcia, a popular Filipino actor, as Rene, a curmudgeon with a sensitive side who didn’t come out of the closet until he was 60 and now faces old age alone. Rene occupies his time talking to his dog, Bwakaw (which rhymes with “Macau” and translates to “voracious” or “greedy”), hanging out with a gay couple who run a hair salon and visiting an elderly nursing-home resident (Armida Siguion-Reyna) who is eventually revealed to be a former sweetheart......[Director Jun Robles Lana] wanted to capture the sadness and silence of aging, “but at same time I didn’t want the film to be bleak. I used humor to break the silences,” he said.

(LIST) 10 Actors Who Moonlight as Rockers!

What's better than being a famous actor? Being a famous actor and a semi-famous singer. Celebuzz rounds up 10 actors who've also been in a band:
  • Abigail Breslin: She's just 16, but the Little Miss Sunshine actress is already a multi-hyphenate. Her first song is "Westfjords" with indie group Stargroves.
  • Ryan Gosling: When he performs with his group, Dead Man's Bones, he goes by "Baby Goose." Get it?
  • Hugh Laurie: The House star is the frontman for Band From TV, which is exactly what it sounds like: a charity cover band "supergroup" of sorts that also features Heroes star Greg Grunberg.
  • Jada Pinkett Smith: Who says Scientologists can't be into heavy metal? Yep, Jada—as Jada Koren—fronts metal band Wicked Wisdom.
Click for the complete list, which includes one overachiever who's in not one but two bands.

(DWTS) 'Diva' Pam Anderson Booted!

If you were hoping Bristol Palin would get knocked out of the running ASAP during Dancing With the Stars' All Stars … well, sorry. Pamela Anderson was the first to get the boot, leaving last night after the show premiered Monday, Celebuzz reports. The crew is probably quite happy to see her go: TMZ reports that she was a bit of a diva on set, demanding her trailer be filled with Beyond coconut water, which must be imported from Australia.

The other diva? Kirstie Alley, who refuses to eat that crap that craft services provides because she is on a strict, custom-designed diet called Organic Liaison that is brought in for her each day, sources claim. As for the newly slimmed-down Bristol—yes, somehow she made it back on the show while Nancy Grace and her boobs did not, which just proves the world is an unfair place—she wants you to know she doesn't care how badly you want her to fail. In fact, "if I ever hear anything that's being said negatively about me or my family, that has given me motivation to want to do better," she tells People. So there!

DADTOneFormer Congressman Patrick Murphy, the moderate Democrat instrumental in Don't Ask, Don't Tell's repeal, reflected on the one year anniversary of the discriminatory law's demise this week at The Daily Beast.

"On September 20th, we mark the first anniversary of the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell," Murphy writes. We take a moment to celebrate the fact that our military has made historic progress in the march toward full equality for all men and women."

(OUTscene NW) PRE-view: The Continuous Thread at Mind Unwind‏ in West Seattle!!

Inspired by using “thread” in a double entente of meaning, the first literal interpretation of “thread” involves textiles and fashion, a second, less obvious interpretation incorporates the “thread” of thoughts that develop during storytelling, an ancient form of communication. The continuum began with curator, Pam Cooper, based in New York and followed a communication thread across the U.S. to Seattle in collaboration with Mind Unwind’s curator, Krystal Kelley. Cooper and Kelley are presenting “The Continuous Thread,” which features these 6 artists: (3 from NYC and 3 from Seattle).

Marion Behr, drawing with pen on paper just letting the thoughts flow, mulling over the events of the day. Robroy Chalmers re purposes dark dense prints and drawings referencing his recent move across the USA, making them fly and lightly swirl around the room. Marcia Widenor’s knitted paper clothing charges the viewer to wonder about the stories that inspired the fabrication of these beautiful objects. Aileen Bassis asks viewers to draw places from the past on note cards, ‘Memory Maps’. Thinking about the nature of memory and how this has fascinated people throughout time she decided to use quotes from different philosophers, along with the photographs taken at the time, to document their experience of memory. Anna Hurwitz uses her collection of Barbie Dolls in an installation called “Stitch ‘n Bitch”. Jewelry designer, Blythe Carling is weaving her thread with metal and stones and will have pieces on exhibit and for sale.
