GLEE-FUL: Paltrow, Devine, Timberlake win Emmy gold!

As if she wasn’t already perfect enough, now Gwyneth Paltrow has an Emmy to go along with her Oscar, reports Greg in Hollywood.

She was named winner of the Emmy for outstanding guest actress in a comedy for her performance as substitute teacher Holly Holliday on Glee.

It’s frankly been Paltrow’s best role in years. Polly is far more feisty and interesting than her supporting role on the Iron Man flicks and I never got around to seeing Country Strong.

She gets to be funny ad sweet on Glee and also gets to sing which she does so very well as we got to see with her renditions of Cee Lo Green’s Forget You, Fleetwood Mac’s Landslide and and dueting with Matthew Morrison on a sexy, tango-infused Kiss by Prince.

2011 Emmy Nominations Announced: FULL LIST

The 2011 Emmy Nominations were announced this morning, with no series dominating.

USA Today notes:
NBC's Parks and Recreation and CBS' The Big Bang Theory joined returning nominees Glee, The Office, 30 Rock and last year's winner Modern Family as best comedy contenders. And in drama, HBO's new Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones joined returnees Mad Men,The Good Wife and Dexter, while Friday Night Lights— shared by DirecTV and NBC — won its first series nomination for its final season. Actors Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton also won nods.

Left out of top-series contention: AMC's brooding mystery The Killing and zombie hit The Walking Dead, HBO's splashy True Blood and FX's Justified, though the modern-day Western won four acting nominations.

HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce topped the list with 21 nominations, followed by 19 for AMC's Mad Men, which has won best drama for the last three years. Boardwalk had 18 and ABC's Modern Family, 17.

EMBARRASSMENT: Was This Year's Daytime EMMYS the worst Ever? Hell Yeah!

by Mike Webber
Soap Q

I have never been to the Daytime Emmys, and I don't see it ever a possibility ever again. The EMMYS was last night, (I Think). After Years of being in Mid May on a Friday with a preceding Prime Time Episode of Y&R or DAYS was the hey day of the 90's. Back in the 70's and 80's the genre stayed in the Daytime and saluted Daytime. Soaps, Talk shows, Games shows and Children's programming. The Only cheesy thing about it was the Soap stars performed an opening number. But was always True class and dignity. Soaps used to the Broadway of Television, but it has been pushed aside as Joke.

For the second year in the row, The Emmys were held in June when no one was watching TV. Last year on Pride Day and this years on Father's Day.

From the silly opening number with Vegas acts and Wayne Brady, who's Game show (Let's make a Deal) killed GL and replaced it. This show or Brady were not even nominated. They passed out a few awards that no one knew because they showed no clips. Created an award for Oprah who Tape a speech a month ago (When she still had a set). Focused on Elvis, Celene, Elton, Donnie and Marie (At least they have worked in Daytime, 10 years ago!), Penn and Teller Once appeared on OLTL 20 years ago) Anderson attended. Barbara Did Not, (More time on PSAs and Informercials of Vegas.) BORING to fans of Daytime.

Read More from a Review in LA Times.

Before I forget, Bold and Beautiful (a show that now one cares about) wins for Best Show. The Bland and Boring, Brittany Allen (AMC) over Powerhouse Actresses (If they showed the clips even the audience would see the comparison).
