(OUTview AMERICA) INTER-view: MK Chats with the Woman behind WOLFE VIDEO on 30 years of Change and Progress!

WOLFE
by MK  Scott

For the past 30 years, the Queer Film mail-order market has changed, and no other company has changed in for the times and had a major contribution to change in the LGBT Community, has been Wolfe Video and its founder, Kathy Wolfe.

Kathy began Wolfe Video as a small mail order distribution outlet serving a largely untapped audience of lesbians and gay men eager for films that spoke to their own lives. Now active in both the film distribution and releasing arenas, Wolfe enjoys a strong presence in the marketplace as the most successful distributor of independent, studio-produced and “self-authored” gay and lesbian themed film, video and DVD products. Kathy has been honored by the National Organization for Women as a recipient of its “Excellence in Media Award,” by Forbes Magazine as an “Up and Comer,” and by The Advocate as a “Hollywood Star Player.” In her spare time, Kathy is an avid restorer of historic buildings; an adventurous traveler; and a collector of almost everything.I was delighted to chat with this true Pioneer this past week!

(BUSINESS) 8th Annual LGBT Community Survey® Reports on the Attitudes and Consumer Behavior!

San Francisco, CA-Community Marketing & Insights (CMI) has released its 2014 LGBT Community Survey report.

34,415 respondents from the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities in 123 countries participated in the 8th annual survey. 170+ LGBT media, events and organizations worldwide partnered with CMI in this year’s study, helping to gain wide representation from across the community.

The media consumption, purchasing patterns, and motivations of a 25 year old single gay man living in New York City are completely different than those of a lesbian couple in their 60’s living in Sedona, Arizona. By attracting large numbers of respondents, CMI is able to look at the many segments within LGBT. Study insights provide companies and organizations with an understanding of how the LGBT community sometimes responds as one voice, or when demographic differences such as gender, age, and geographic residence are far more important.

(LIST) Television's Highest-Paid Actors!

Forbes is out with its annual list of the highest-paid TV actors, with Ashton Kutcher of Two and a Half Men leading the list at $24 million. Notable is that he replaced Charlie Sheen not only on the show but as No. 1 on the list. Sheen led last year with $40 million, but he doesn't even make the cut this year. The top money-makers:
  • Ashton Kutcher, $24 million: Charlie who?
  • Hugh Laurie, $18 million: Things will be different next year, with House off the air.
  • Ray Romano, $18 million: Even though Men of a Certain Age didn't do so well for TNT.
  • Alec Baldwin, $15 million: 30 Rock is in its final season.
  • Mark Harmon, $15 million: NCIS is still a ratings gem.
