(MK Scott) MK's Exclusive with Broadway Star/Recording Artist, Natalie Toro, 'Just in Time for Christmas'!

by MK Scott

Natalie Toro is the latest Broadway (In the Heights) star to make to make it Big as a recording artist. Like, Matt Zarley and Shoshana Bean, Toro started on the stage, but has transitioned into being a recording artist. Her 3rd CD is a Holiday CD with some traditional Favorites and some new material and with a few Hunks as her duet partners. I chatted with Toro, via email, earlier this week.

(OUTscene TV) CLASSIC: MK chats with Broadway's Original Felicia as"Priscilla', hits Seattle this Week!

By MK Scott

Priscilla, Queen of the Desert the musical hits Seattle's Paramount this week. In 2011, I chatted with Broadway's original Felicia.

Nick Adams, who is known as the 'Bod of Broadway' took some time to speak with me right in front of the Broadway Palace Theater and home to 'Priscilla, queen of the desert, the Musical' in NYC. Nick was wearing a tank to show off his famous BIG Guns and he confessed he wouldn't mind being the 'Broad of Broadway' for as long as the show runs. What will he do next?"

(MK SCOTT) Exclusive with Oscar Winner, Dustin Lance Black on Progress and the work to be done!

DLB w/ MK at HRC-PDX           /MKS
by MK Scott

One of the great strengths of Oscar winning Screenwriter, Dustin Lance Black is his way with words and he wrote the wisdom of Harvey Milk and the confusing Toughness of J. Edgar Hoover. Black was there to witness the beginning of Prop 8 and was there until the end. Last year, Black attended the Pacific NW HRC Dinner to accept the Visibility award and gave a memorable speech that lead to the Full Fight to Approve Ref 74 and the victory that was a reality a few short months later.

Black was back in the NW on July 27th at the 4th Annual Portland HRC Gala, as a Keynote speaker to share the fight for a battle to Strike the Oregon DOMA law. Black spoke about what is next as a Writer and Activist:

(MK SCOTT) EXCLUSIVE: 80's Icon, Stacey Q is Back with Pride!

Stacey Adored MK               /MKS
by MK Scott

I admit that there was only one name at Seattle Pride this year, that I was excited to meet and chat with (Unlike last year with Amanda Lepore and Cazwell) and super hyped to track down. Back in High School, I was smitten with a 80's Blonde Bombshell (After Madonna, and before Kylie) named Stacy Q. When she appeared on Facts of Life as Cinnamon, a rival of Tootie, and have her perform her Hit, 'Two of hearts' and then walk off with my secret crush George Clooney was the icing. I always wanted to know what Happened to our Favorite, and she always remain a one hit wonder? VHI ranked 'Hearts' Top 27 of the all-time one hit wonders, and I would think we would hear more from the world of music and acting. After 20 years, Stacey is back and well-received from her Gay Fan Base. I caught up with Stacey Q at the Cuff Pride Street Party is Seattle's Capitol Hill, who was sharing a trailer with the Lady Bunny and R & B star, Crystal Waters.

(EXCLUSIVE) OSCAR SHOCKER: They forgot to get BRUCE!

by MK Scott

Now that Oscars  are over, I could now say that the Oscars had its Moments with Bond and Bassey with Adele and Babs. I Loved the Movie Musical Medley as well as Michelle Obama. What was missing was a Host with good Material, such as the Opening which was a Boobs of an embarrassment. On Social media, the chatter was the that it the worst opening since Snow White and Rob Lowe's 'Proud Mary' Fiasco from 1989. The Presenters dialogue looked forced and confusing. MacFarlane (who definitely is not a stage performer.) Looks and Sings was the Poor Man's Hugh Jackman.

What Happened? Well, a few weeks ago I learned that the Head Comedy writer after 23 years was not invited back. With the Gay Producing Team of Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, you would want to utilize the talents of the Best Comedy writer and the Biggest and Gayest of them all and make the the oscars, the Gayest ever. We all know the experience and Talents of Bruce Vilanch.  Every funny moment from the Oscars in the last 23 years was written by Vilanch. I pressed further, and Vilanch responded (via E-mail) , "We had one conversation. they said they'd get back to me. they never did. we've been friends for 40 years"!

This was one of the questions I was going to ask Zadan and Meron during a scheduled interviewe, which was cancelled.

Here's Hoping Oscar has realized their mistake and Give Vilanch the respect he deserves. What he needs is an Honorary Oscar and a lifelong contract.

(MK SCOTT) EXCLUSIVE: After nearly 4 years, MK catches up with Season 8 Idol, Kris Allen on Tour!

FILE
by MK Scott

About 3 years ago, I posted an Interview I did back in July 2009 with then (Season 8) American Idol winner, Kris Allen, you know the guy who beat Adam Lambert? When we met in our last interview Allen was a cocky 24 year old (He looked 18 in person) kid on cloud nine and was about to go on a journey. Allen's music has been tested and succeeded as his Debut album in November 2009 started at #11 in its first week. Since then, Allen is getting raves for his music. On an episode of Glee, Mathew Morrison, sang a Kris Allen song, "Still Got Tonight"  that he recorded for his own Album. His friendship with Adam Lambert is still important to him and has showed him as a Gay ally, in fact, Allen even played a Star-studded Benefit for the Trevor Project in December 2011.

By this passed January, Allen (now 27) had to grow up fast as he announced his wife, Katy O'Connell, was expecting their first child and recovering from a Head On-collision that resulted in broken wrist that needed surgery. Days later he embarked on his Out Alive tour with his Right arm in a Brace. On Sunday, February 17th, I arrived at the Tractor Tavern in the Seattle Neighborhood of Ballard and spotted a more rugged and wiser Allen enter with his Pregnant wife, Katy (displaying her Baby Bump). It took him awhile before he recognized me from almost 4 years ago.

But first check Out Kris' most recent song about Anti-Bullying, Vision of Love:

(INTO THE LIGHT) All About Goldie!

 by Alan Bounville

Meet Goldie Hawn! A few miles into a walk last week, a stow away joined me. It was raining this morning and this poor puppy was wandering around the highway soaking wet, coming close to being hit by cars a number of times as I past him. I didn’t know what to do. I’m so fed up at folks in the country not keeping their pets away from the road – ESPECIALLY when they live on a highway!

But something was different about this baby. He looked confused and scared. I called him over to me and saw that he was thin. I gave him a bit of my food. I went to the nearest house and talked to someone there who said his humans were in the house up the street. I asked if they could help get him home. The person refused. So, I walked away. Since I showed this adorable puppy some kindness, he began following me.

I thought after a little ways he would get tired and walk home. He didn’t. But he didn’t stay away from the road either. I kept having to go into the road to rescue him from being hit. After a couple of miles I gave him a name – Goldie Hawn. But I was still hoping he would turn around and go home. Five miles in, Goldie Hawn was still walking with me, across my path, and across the street.

(MK SCOTT) MK Talks Marriage with 'I DO' Writer/Star, David W. Ross!

by MK Scott

Last month, during the Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Festival I had the pleasure to meet and chat with the Writer and Star of 'I DO'. Now that Washington, Maine and Maryland have joined New York as well as others to allow same-sex marriage, 'I DO' goes beyond the state protections and focuses on another cause that I think needs to be resolved. As I learned from my interview (June 2011) with Judy Rickard and her book, Torn Apart: United by Love, Divided by Law, state protections are not recognized under federal immigration law. David W. Ross' 'I DO' is a beautifully written and acted that brings up the issue.

(MK SCOTT) MK's EXCLUSIVE 'Joint' INTER-view with DTLA Stars, Danny Roberts and Julie Goldman!

by MK Scott

The new series DTLA premieres on Logo on Oct. 24 and 2 of the cast members are OUTscene Pals, Julie Goldman (Big Gay Sketch Show) and Danny Roberts (Real World). So I was able to get them Both for an JOINT interview (Done separate but combined for this Post) and it turned out while doing the series they never met or crossed paths.

Danny Roberts was a member of the cast of The Real World: New Orleans back in 2000. His participation was especially memorable because Danny was dating a US Army Captain named Paul Dill whose face had to be blurred out on screen because the military’s anti-gay Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy was still in place. Roberts Lives in Seattle.

Julie Goldman was a cast member of Logo's Big Gay Sketch Show and is a frequent guest on Jonny McGovern's weekly podcast Gay Pimpin' with Jonny McGovern.

Additionally, Goldman currently write (under the direction of OUTscene Fave, Tony Tripoli) for Joan Rivers on Fashion Police on E!. I last interviewed Goldman in 2010.

by Eddie Walker

On September 29, 2012, I had the pleasure of attending the Bellevue Collection’s Front Row Fashion Show sponsored by Vogue, and benefitting the Moyer Foundation.  And let me tell you, with the tiered seating, you could not find a bad seat in the house.  The lighting, the music, the models, the fashions, it was all fabulous. Well, not all of it, but I’ll get to that in a minute. The show was hosted by Anne Vincent of Vogue and Style Icon, Lawrence Zarian.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis today released this amazing video in support of Referendum 74 in Washington to their track "Same Love" featuring Mary Lambert. "Same Love" is featured on the debut album from Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, The Heist, released on October 9.

One-half of the couple featured is Seattle-Based Model, William Pontius. "I have always focused on socially conscious projects especially when it comes to my acting career", Pontius told me Exclusively by e-mail.

"The wedding shoot was particularly hard because there was SO much emotion in the room, everyone felt like it was the real deal AND the guy I was marrying kept telling me he was trying not to cry.... Talk about emotional!"
