As someone who re-viewed the 2010 National Tour of the Revival of HAIR and was enlightened with a whole new re-written show that revealed the Trio of Berger, Sheila,and Claude to be in a Bi-sexual Triangle as well as the Man-crush of Woof for Mick Jagger and quickly to shrug of 'I am NOT Gay' despite his mannerisms and action.

Wow, I was even more mesmerized with the Current production staged by David Gassner for ARTSWEST, this past weekend. This production by far was the Gayest and Best yet.

Berger (played by Jeff Orton, who previously played Gay in The Little Dog Laughed)  was Flamboyant from the moment he appeared on stage.

Jonathan Groff and Lucy Liu announced the nominations for the 68th annual Tony Awards at the Paramount Hotel’s Diamond Horseshoe April 29, with Tony host Hugh Jackman also popping up to remind theater fans to watch the telecast live on CBS on June 8. The new musical A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder led the pack with ten nominations, with the revival of Hedwig and the Angry Inch trailing closely behind with eight nominations. The new musicals After Midnight and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical each received seven nominations, as did the revivals of The Glass Menagerie and Twelfth Night. As for new plays this season, Act One garnered the most nominations, with five. A complete list of this year’s nominees follows.

As a Big Fan of the movie, 'Who's afraid of  Virginia Woolf?'  starring Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor, I was so looking forward of seeing this Edward Albee classic at Seattle Rep this past weekend. However it was HARD to accept anyone else in the roles of George and Martha beside Taylor and Burton. By end of Act 2 they had me, but this groundbreaking play is over 50 years old and it also shows its age.

C'mon, you know the story when George (R. Hamilton Wright) and Martha (Pamela Reed) engage in dangerous emotional games. George is an associate professor of history and Martha is the daughter of the president of the college. Martha is already quite drunk and mentions she invited a young couple over for a night of Games. George is not in the mood, but Martha won't back down.  The guests arrive – Nick (the Dashing, Aaron Blakey), a biology professor and his wife, Honey (Amy Hill). Now they are certainly not George Segal or the Oscar winning, Sandy Dennis, but they handle the material quite well.

(MY View) RuPaul's Drag Race and the Danger of Overpolicing Language!

"Tranny," "sissy," "sex change," and "she-male" are self-identifying slang words used by gender-nonconforming people -- mostly performers, artists, sex workers, and others considered to be living on the fringe of our queer community. Although we use these words playfully to relate, empower, and communicate, these words, like the word "gay," are sometimes used to disrespect us.

When I first transitioned, I proudly identified as a "tranny" until people within the trans community told me the word was offensive to them. I complied but quickly realized that while striving to be accepted by the hetero-dominated world, the upper echelons of the trans community were trying to sweep the fringe under the rug by censoring the language with which they identify. In addition to banishing "tranny," "sissy," "sex change," and "she-male" as slander, they insisted that the users of these words were the oppressors, making themselves the victims -- a well-worn tool of manipulation and control.

As an artist, I love language, and I cherish free speech. RuPaul has been the number-one defender of these, and at the same time he continues to support every shade of queerness within our community, no matter the class. Drag is punk and should never be subjected to politically correct ideals. The moment it stops provoking is the moment it fails as an art form. Trans people are forever indebted to drag for the mainstream explosion of gender as we see it today.

We've had a sting of major marriage wins in the last few months, but now anti-gay groups will keep trying to tear those victories down in a series of hearings. Anti-gay groups are getting desperate, with one candidate for governor comparing marriage equality to murder. An Alabama scheme to slip a marriage ban into the US Constitution is moving forward but is pretty much guaranteed to fail. A judge in Ohio rules that marriage equality isn't only for dead people anymore. Plus, a major marriage victory in Utah gets put to the test on appeal this Thursday. We'll have all the details.
