(OUTscene AMERICA) Re-Cap: HRC dinner in LA brings out Mariah Carey, Matt Bomer, Lena Dunham and many more!

Mariah Literally Stole the Show!                                  Hernandez

by Greg Hernandez
Greg in Hollywood

When word got out that Mariah Carey would be performing at Saturday night’s Human Rights Campaign Dinner in Los Angeles, the event quickly became a sellout.

The crowd of 1,200 had to wait until the very end of a long, star-studded evening, before the Grammy winner was introduced by Empire star Jussie Smollett.

‘I don’t know how to explain how much a love this woman … she is one of the greatest vocalists of all time,’ said Smollett who came out publicly as a gay man earlier this month.

‘I’m about to pee myself,’ he admitted. ‘She’s right there.’

MK hangs with Jaymes and the Chippendales in 2011!
It was in 2009 when I started the OUTview Brand with a Radio Show on Q-Radio and I started OUTview Online in April 2009. I started the Blog what is today, 5 yrs ago this past month and this post is the 9,958 and what a great ride it has been.

We are a leader in collaborative Multi-media Journalism and have scored from Politics to Entertainment. From Portland to Seattle to up and down the west coast to New York and beyond. We have been the little engine that can and are about to jump start in a big way. This NEW site will have News and Opinions, in the style of Salon and HuffGay. We still need to raise $1,000.

MK and Co. have been the only NW based Outlet to travel to the GLAAD media awards red carpet in LA and NY. The Only LGBT video outlet to cover Film Festivals, Fashion shows and more. We were also the only Video outlet to cover a Press Conference with former Congressman Barney Frank and Congressman Jim McDermott. We are proud of our exclusives.

We never know which politician or celeb we will run into next, so the sky's the limit! HERE are some our Favorite Photos:

(OUTscene AMERICA) PHOTOS: last night's screening of Matt Zarley's "hopefulROMANTIC" Brought the Stars!

Photo: Nina Prommer
Our Pal, Matt Zarley, sent over photos from his Private Screening at AFI last night of his new musical short, 'hopefulROMANTIC'. Among the guests in attendance were co-stars George Takei and Chuck Saculla, (our FAVE) Shoshana Bean, Jeb Havens, Maria Mesa, Kaj-Erik Eriksen and Haviland Stillwell.

'hopefulROMANTIC' is a universal story about loving, letting go, and holding onto faith that there's somebody for everybody. The nearly dialogue-free narrative is articulated solely through Matt Zarley & Andy Zulla's soulful pop score....introducing a movie musical for a new generation.

Now SIFF 2014 has started, I have gone back to my vault and found some photos from the Past 6 years. Our connection goes back as early as 2004. The Highlight of 2004 was the Donnie Darko Press conference with Drew Barrymore and Jena Malone. As we came out in Full force in 2010, we covered our first red carpet with Paul Dano and Sit down chat with Willam Belli and Jesse Archer! From Paul Williams to Nick Robinson to Sissy Spacek to Joss Wheden. It has been quite a journey. Enjoy!

(OUTscene NW) Greatest Moments That Gave Me The Chills During Seattle's First Day Of Marriage Equality!

by Matt Stopera

Relive one of the most emotionally exhausting days of my life, when 138 couples got married in downtown Seattle on the first day gay marriage was officially legal. Wow. CLICK HERE for Full article.

The first time I got chills was when I got to City Hall and saw these women showing off their homemade "23" bouquets for 23 years together.

(OUTscene AMERICA) PHOTOS: Chenoweth and others on Trevor Live red carpet!

Last Sunday night, some of the biggest stars in showbiz gathered at the Hollywood Palladium for Trevor Live!, an annual musical benefit that raises money for this very valuable organization.

I’m a far better writer than a photographer but I got all kinds of snapshots on the red carpet that I want to share with you. One or two are a little fuzzy and there are some red eyeballs but overall, I think there some winners here. GIH was there and got the scoop.

(OUTscene NW) the 2012 HRC Pacific NW Dinner was all about WA Politics and Marriage Equality!

Dustin receives the visibility award
HRC's annual dinner was a blast, but downsized!  Full house at the Sheraton Ballroom, list of good speakers, including several spots from Chad Griffin, new national President. Lacy All of HRC Seattle launched the hour segment about Marriage Equality. Good audience response when the money donated by the jazzed crowd brought in $300,000 to Approve Ref-74 campaign. The crowd was buzzing at fever pitch with this amazing effort.

Dustin Lance Black, film maker famed for his movie about Harvey Milk gave a stunning speech - (Video Posted this week). He was on fire, very, very personal and to the point. Impressive. He reminded us if Washington State can approve Gay Marriage this rest of the country will take notice. We also got to know the new HRC President, Chad Griffin and saw a new ad that was a Prop 8 ad that we will see from the opposition of Ref-74. Closing the evening was IDOL/VOICE/Broadway Diva, Frenchie Davis.

Noticed that Lance Black dodged out after his speech and was later spotted at Seattle's New Club, Q.

At the Federal Club reception, prior to the event, the spotlight was on Washington with speeches from Jay Inslee, candidate for Governor and Sen Maria Cantwell (D-WA). Also spotted was congressman, Rick Larsen. Look for More coverage in the coming days!

(OUTscene NW) PHOTOS/TV: Cruisey T's Pride Cruise was an L.E.C. Experience!

MK w/ James Steck       MK/OS
by MK Scott

Van City Pride is never complete until you make it on a Cruisey-T Pride Cruise, in my case the Pride Party Cruise which is a 4 Hour Floating T-Dance that starts at the Harbour Marina and travel to the English Bay and Back.

Besides Dancing where you stand, there were Drag Performances by Van City's own Raye Sunshine, and Iona Whipp. Did I mention the all-can-you-Buffet Dinner?

CruiseyT's main focus is to raise funds for local charities and organizations within the Gay & Lesbian Communities. Since the inception of CruiseyT in 1991, a total of $600,000 has been donated to worthy causes and direct service agencies. Check Out the Grande Finale on September 2nd.

I still long for the days when Seattle had its own "Queen City Cruise" which was always a Lubricating, Ejaculating Celebration!
