His cousin Zach Zentner told the local news station, "I've thought about that a lot. I just wonder what their situation is. I hope they can bring it to themselves to come forward and admit it to themselves. They need to do something about this and say 'this is what happened.'"

Eric was best-known for his work with Versace, Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs and for a cameo in Katy Perry's "Hot N Cold" music video.

NEWS FLASH: Supreme Court Rules 8-1 for Westboro Baptist Church in Soldiers Funerals Case!

SCOTUS has ruled for Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church: "The Supreme Court has ruled that the First Amendment protects fundamentalist church members who mount attention-getting, anti-gay protests outside military funerals. The court voted 8-1 Wednesday in favor of the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kan. The decision upheld an appeals court ruling that threw out a $5 million judgment to the father of a dead Marine who sued church members after they picketed his son's funeral."

POLITICS: Steele: I Won't Step Down

Michael Steele says he won’t be stepping down as the chairman of the RNC, and thinks the concern over his spending has been blown out of proportion. “A lot of our major donors are used to a particular type of event. We’ve been scaling those back,” he told Good Morning America. “The bottom line is, I hear my donors, I hear our base. We’re taking steps to make sure we’re even more fiscally conservative in our spending.”

When asked if he thought he had a slimmer margin of error because he was black, Steele replied, “The honest answer is yes. Barack Obama has a slimmer margin. A lot of folks do. That’s just the reality of it.” But he thinks his real problem is that he’s not a “Washington insider.” He says his politics are more “grassroots oriented, so I tend to come at it a little bit stronger, a little bit more street-wise, if you will.”

ISSUES: Gay Activist Found Dead in Oklahoma Apartment

A man was found dead in an apartment in Oklahoma, just two days after he filed a brutality complaint against the Tulsa Police Department.

In his life, Keith Kimmel made headlines as a gay rights activist. In his death, friends hope Kimmel can do the same.

We first introduced you to Kimmel in February when he first gained attention during his battle with Oklahoma for an "IM GAY" license plate.

Kimmel sued the state, because the Oklahoma Tax Commission denied that request.
Kimmel told a friend, Kerri Logsdon, he filed a formal complaint with the police after a scuffle outside the night club.

He told her officers "dragged me around the parking lot on my stomach" and "hit my head on the door frame several times."

"Whether or not his death was a direct result of the beating he received from the Tulsa Police Department Friday night.. it was still a hate crime." said Logsdon.

Despite speculation, it remains unknown exactly how Kimmel died. Investigators must wait for the medical examiner's office to determine the exact cause of death.

News Flash: Mark Indelicato takes to Twitter to reflect on the end of his memorable four-year run on “Ugly Betty”

He’s grown up before our eyes during four seasons on ABC’s Ugly Betty as the wonderfully spirited – and gay – Justin Suarez.

Mark Indelicato, whose character shared a sweet kiss with a classmate a few weeks back, has shot his last episode of the wonderful series that has always been the epitome of diversity.
Here are his thoughts on the experience which he posted Thursday night on Twitter:

Well this is it. I have discovered not only a character in this process of Ugly Betty, but I have discovered myself. With these amazing talented people I have shared so many memories and experiences that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I don’t look at this as a sad thing, I look at this as a stepping stone. I am so proud of this show and proud to say that I was and always was a part of it. The Friends I made will last me a lifetime and so will this experience. I love my cast and crew but most of all I love the fans of Ugly Betty.

News Flash: Boy Scout Exec: Parents to Blame for Sleepovers?

(AP) – The president of the Boy Scout council for the Portland area has testified he believes the parents of some Scouts were negligent and even criminal for allowing sleepovers that led to sex abuse. Eugene Grant told a jury in a $29 million sex abuse lawsuit against the Boy Scouts that parents should not have allowed boys to stay overnight with a single man at his apartment. "I just find it almost incomprehensible to think their children were going to be safe in that type of environment," Grant said.

The man, Timur Dykes, has admitted molesting the victim who filed the lawsuit and has been convicted of other sex abuse dating back to the early 1980s, when Dykes was an assistant Scoutmaster. During cross-examination by an attorney for the victim, Grant said yesterday it was not Boy Scouts policy to allow sleepovers, especially when they were unsupervised. "His parents should have known better," Grant said, referring to the parents of the victim. "I think it was criminal." But when about whether the Boy Scouts had any formal policy against sleepovers in the early 1980s, Grant replied, "At the time, no." Grant later said he believed that, at the very least, the parents were negligent.

News Flash: Grace Kelly: Enduring Style Icon

Grace Kelly took Hollywood by storm quite suddenly, then disappeared just as suddenly to become a princess—but she remained a style icon. As that style is celebrated in London’s Victoria and Albert Museum, Vanity Fair charts Kelly’s rise from Philadelphia schoolgirl to Academy Award-winning movie star, and takes an extensive look at her enduring influence in the world of fashion.

Kelly, who grew up in a rich and powerful family similar to the Kennedys, always wore white gloves to auditions. One editor remembers her “sweater-and-tartan-skirt look” as “almost schoolgirlish.” As she spent more time in New York, recalls her best friend, her look became more “chic”; by 1955, the year she won her Oscar, she topped the Best-Dressed List. Today, that look continues to inspire designers from Tommy Hilfiger to the Mad Men costume designer: “The simplicity, it is so classic," she says, "but it’s always dramatic.”

News Flash: Vatican Told of Abuse in 1963

A letter sent to Pope Paul VI in 1963 surfaced yesterday, and its contents suggest that the Vatican was aware of the sexual abuse problems happening in the US Catholic Church nearly five decades ago. Rev. Gerald Fitzgerald wrote the letter, which was made public by lawyers representing alleged abuse victims in LA, to elaborate on the "problem of the problem priest"—and apparently did so at the request of the pope, whom Fitzgerald had earlier met with in Rome to talk about cases of abuse.

The best way to deal with "problem priests" is to defrock them, rather than to send them to another diocese, which was the practice at the time, wrote Fitzgerald. "Where there is indication of incorrigibility, because of the tremendous scandal given, I would most earnestly recommend total laicisation. I say 'total' because the non-Catholic world definitely blames the discipline of celibacy for the perversion of these men." Officials for the Catholic archdiocese in LA say they doubt the pope ever saw the letter, notes the Independent.

News Flash: Actor Neal McDonough Refuses To Do Sex Scene – Off Show

We have all heard of actors storming off the set (if there was a Gay kiss) This is a first of someone storming off the set to protest ANY sex scene!

Call Neal McDonough the anti-Tiger: The TV actor recently gave up his part on the new ABC show ‘Scoundrels’ just three days into filming, because the script called for him to be in a sex scene — something the married Catholic father-of-three has made clear he won’t do, RadarOnline.com has learned.McDonough — a talented 44-year-old actor who has appeared in projects like ‘Band of Brothers,’ ‘Desperate Housewives,’ ‘Boomtown’ and ‘Medical Investigation’ — has steadfastly refused to do sex scenes of any kind throughout his career.

The ‘Scoundrels’ script called for him to be in a sex scene with sultry actress Virginia Madsen, and leaving the show might have cost himself up to a cool $1 million.ABC has called the split a “casting change.”Said an insider: “It has cost him jobs, but the man is sticking to his principles.”

NEWS FLASH: Race Is All That's Saving Steele

Michael Steele is pretty obviously lousy at his job, so why don’t Republicans just fire him? There’s just one reason, argues Gabriel Winant of Salon: race. Steele, you’ll recall, came to power directly after Barack Obama’s election—the Republicans, essentially, wanted their own black guy. Dumping their first African-American chairman looks seriously unpalatable, even if he's causing a donor revolt.

The irony, says Winant, is that their reluctance just shows once again how "painfully tone deaf" the GOP is about race. They thought a black leader who wanted to recruit voters in “urban and suburban hip hop settings” with “fried chicken and potato salad” would actually help them with black voters. Now they fear firing him will hurt them with black voters. It won’t. “Frankly, it couldn’t: Republicans have no black support to lose.”

News Flash: No formal reprimand for general who pushed gay ban

According to the News Tribune:
A high-ranking Army general won't be formally reprimanded after urging troops to lobby to keep the ban on openly gay military service.

President Barack Obama supports lifting the ban, and an active attempt to keep it in place could be considered insubordination. But Lt. Gen. Benjamin Mixon's civilian boss says the three-star Army general won't receive a letter of reprimand or be forced to step down. Army Secretary John McHugh told reporters Wednesday that Mixon has been told by Army Chief of Staff Gen. George Casey that what he did was inappropriate."The chief and I believe that he is now prepared to lead in the very distinguished manner in which he has led in the past and that brought him to a very, very high level three-star position," McHugh said."So we will consider the matter closed as of today," he added.Mixon's case underscores the difficulty facing Obama as he presses ahead to repeal the 1993 law known as "don't ask, don't tell." Pentagon officials say they want to hear the opinions of the troops so they can address their concerns.McHugh said he has talked with some gay soldiers already about the policy. He said the troops wouldn't be discharged for revealing their sexual orientation in those discussions, even though doing so technically violates the law."

What I'm trying to do is tell the troops that's it's OK to talk about this, no matter what their view is," he said. But unsolicited pushback - particularly by senior uniformed officers - could help to mobilize resistance within the ranks that would make it difficult to change personnel policies without dividing military units and hurting troop readiness.Mixon urged troops to speak up in support of the ban in a letter published in a military newspaper.

McHugh said he didn't think Mixon deserved harsher treatment because he now "recognizes it is inappropriate for him to become an advocate and try to shape the opinion of the force, rather than reach out and ascertain the opinion of the force."

Obama says that everyone, gay or straight, should be able to serve their country, and Defense Secretary Robert Gates has ordered a yearlong review of how to make that happen. Some military officials, including Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Adm. Mike Mullen, say they agree it's time to reverse the law. But other uniformed officers - also with impressive service records, including Marine Corps Commandant James Conway - have said the law is helping to keep order and discipline and that lifting the ban during a time of two wars could be too disruptive.

In an interview this week with Congressional Quarterly, the Army's Casey said he doesn't think the majority of troops support a repeal, even though he would support the study ordered by Gates to determine if that was true. In a separate interview with Military.com, Conway pointed to logistical hurdles in repealing the ban and said he wouldn't force Marines to share rooms with gay service members on base.

Mixon's comments were considered particularly defiant. Whereas the service chiefs reserved their most pointed criticism for congressional testimony - they are required by law to give Congress their personal opinions when asked - Mixon sent an unsolicited letter to the newspaper "Stars and Stripes" calling his troops to action."

Now is the time," Mixon said, "to write your elected officials and chain of command and express your views. If those of us who are in favor of retaining the current policy do not speak up, there is no chance to retain the current policy."His letter received a rare public admonishment from Gates and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Mike Mullen for using his rank to advocate a political position and challenge the president."The answer is not advocacy. It is, in fact, to vote with your feet," Mullen said at the Pentagon.

News Flash: Anna Paquin is bisexual!

Oscar winner Anna Paquin, who plays a telepathic vampire lover on HBO’s True Blood, has surprised many by coming out as bisexual.

And I don’t believe this is an April Fool’s Day joke!

Anna makes the announcement in a PSA video promoting the Give a Damn campaign, which features celebrities speaking out for equality.

“I’m Anna Paquin. I’m bisexual and I give a damn,” the 27 year old says in the PSA.
The actress is engaged to her hunky True Blood costar Stephen Moyer.

News Flash: Wise words from gay “Real World” cast member

I haven’t been watching The Real World in years, but the folks at AfterElton.com have been.

Sunday’s episode featured a painful coming out episode involving cast member Mike Manning and his boyfriend Tanner. After a visit to DC, the boyfriend went home and came out to his parents. It did not go well at all.

Mike offered moral support to Tanner and at the end of the episode, he turned to the camera and said: “If your kid comes out to you and has the courage to tell you who they truly are, then you better damn well love ‘em all the same!”

News Flash: Ricky Martin: “I’m doing great! Stronger than ever!”

Now out and proud superstar Ricky Martin has reached out to fans with an upbeat message via Twitter a few days after coming out publicly:

“What’s going on gang? I’m doing great! Stronger than ever! I’m here relaxing [at] home enjoying [your] messages! I feel the love! [Thanks] for all! Peace.”

It was on Monday that Ricky came out via a heartfelt essay on his website which read in part: This is just what I need especially now that I am the father of two beautiful boys that are so full of light and who with their outlook teach me new things every day. To keep living as I did up until today would be to indirectly diminish the glow that my kids where born with. Enough is enough. This has to change. This was not supposed to happen 5 or 10 years ago, it is supposed to happen now.

Glee fanatics with a knack for singing and acting, this is your chance: the show is hosting an open casting call for all those interested in performing in season 2. Would-be stars ages 16 to 26 are invited to upload audition videos to the show's myspace page. They should have a short intro followed by a performance of a Glee standard like "True Colors," Entertainment Weekly reports.

News Flash: NO JOKE! Marine's Dad Ordered to Pay Protesters' Court Fees; O'Reilly to the rescue?

(AP) – The father of a Marine killed in Iraq and whose funeral was picketed by anti-gay protesters was ordered to pay the protesters' appeal costs, his lawyers said yesterday. On Friday, Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit ordered Albert Snyder to pay $16,510 to Fred Phelps, the leader of the Westboro Baptist Church that conducted protests at Marine Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder's funeral in 2006.

The decision adds "insult to injury," said one of Snyder's lawyers. The two-page decision supplied by attorneys for Snyder offered no details on how the court came to its decision. Attorneys also said Snyder is struggling to come up with fees associated with filing a brief with the US Supreme Court, which has agreed to hear the case.

Bill O’Reilly is opening his checkbook for the father to pay the legal fees of protesters he’d sued for picketing his son’s 2006 funeral. “That is an outrage,” the Fox host said yesterday of the news that an appeals court overturned an $11 million award for Albert Snyder, then tacked on $16,500. “I am not going to let this injustice stand.”

News Flash: Holy Kryptonite! Superman Debut Fetches $1.5M

Superman's first appearance has sold for a price that would have allowed his creators Seigel & Shuster to retire on the spot. A mint-condition copy of Action Comics No. 1 from 1938 went for $1.5 million on Internet auction site Comics Connect. The sale broke the record for the most expensive comic book in history for the third time this year.

This comic is "the Holy Grail of Holy Grails," Comic Connect co-owner Vincent Zurzolo told CNN. Fewer than 100 of the 200,000 copies of Action Comics' first issue are still around and copies in good condition are even rarer. All Zurzolo would disclose about the buyer is that he is, unsurprisingly, a hardcore comics fan. "Our buyer, much like most of the superheroes out there, has a secret identity and would rather remain that way," he said

News Flash: Steele Drives Away RNC Donors

The RNC’s bondage club incident has been yet another blow to an organization that’s been struggling to pull in big donors ever since Michael Steele took over. At least eight of the RNC’s top individual donors haven’t donated in the past 14 months, according to FEC filings, opting instead to give to the National Republican Congressional Committee or individual campaigns. Many have blamed Steele and his free-spending ways.

“These are people who are longtime, loyal donors,” one major GOP donor told the Daily Caller, “and to be in the front page of newspapers because someone put a chit in for going to a sex club, it’s just dumb.” Critics say the bondage club visit is merely indicative of the larger problems with Steele’s RNC. “There does appear to be a real issue with the RNC’s discipline,” said one Republican consultant. “This damaging story could have been avoided.”
