ISSUES: Gay Activist Found Dead in Oklahoma Apartment

A man was found dead in an apartment in Oklahoma, just two days after he filed a brutality complaint against the Tulsa Police Department.

In his life, Keith Kimmel made headlines as a gay rights activist. In his death, friends hope Kimmel can do the same.

We first introduced you to Kimmel in February when he first gained attention during his battle with Oklahoma for an "IM GAY" license plate.

Kimmel sued the state, because the Oklahoma Tax Commission denied that request.
Kimmel told a friend, Kerri Logsdon, he filed a formal complaint with the police after a scuffle outside the night club.

He told her officers "dragged me around the parking lot on my stomach" and "hit my head on the door frame several times."

"Whether or not his death was a direct result of the beating he received from the Tulsa Police Department Friday night.. it was still a hate crime." said Logsdon.

Despite speculation, it remains unknown exactly how Kimmel died. Investigators must wait for the medical examiner's office to determine the exact cause of death.
