The rumors are true: Despite some sources insisting Heidi Klum and Seal were not really splitting up,
the couple issued a statement last night confirming the news. "While we
have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal, and happy years of marriage,
after much soul-searching we have decided to separate," reads the
statement obtained by E!.
But why? TMZ reports that it all comes down to Seal's temper.
"It was a
long time in coming," says a source, who adds that Seal can't control
his anger and Klum didn't want to deal with it anymore. Another insider
tells People that distance also made their relationship more difficult, and a friend tells Us that lately, "They're either madly in love or having crazy fights." Yet another tells New York Daily News
that Klum is "super-friendly" and "warm," while "Seal is not." (Klum's
father will probably be getting a talking-to: He also spoke to Us, revealing that the family is "very sad" about the split.)

SHEERED: Special Skier's Underwear Banned at World Cup!
The newest suspicions of cheating in sports
come not from the use of performance enhancing drugs but from the
wearing of special underwear. Professional skiers who will compete in
the upcoming World Cup in Switzerland were bluntly told by officials
they cannot don a "full-bodied, plastic-neoprene hybrid sheath" worn
under their outer racing uniform, reports the New York Times.
The suit might shave off a crucial few hundredths of a second, but the undies are banned. The regulations are meant to protect the health of the skiers, forbidding them from wearing clothing that does not allow the skin to breathe and release perspiration. However, a debate is erupting between officials and coaches over whether the issue is safety or cheating—as well as how to determine which garments are disqualifying as no standard test currently exists. "There are a lot of question marks," says the US men's coach.

FASHION: A Santorum Sweater Vest, Yours for Just $100!
Donors willing to fork over at least $100 to
Rick Santorum's campaign will get a little thank-you gift: one of the
GOP candidate's now infamous sweater vests. Santorum is attempting to rake in another $1 million by tomorrow, reports USA Today,
and he's paving the road to riches with 100% cotton. The "official Rick
Santorum for President" sweater vest comes in gray, and is, naturally,
made in the USA.
His website urges "Don't let sleeves slow you down"—but adds that delivery might indeed be slow, due to "extremely high" demand. Not sold? Consider this: It's "perfect for demonstrating solidarity with true conservatives." The sartorial choice also came up during a CNN interview yesterday: "One of my supporters said this is my Second Amendment vest: The right to bare arms," Santorum quipped.

PUSH-UP: Male Model Stars in Bra Ads!
The "woman" modeling a push-up bra for Dutch department store Hema is actually a man: androgynous model Andrej Pejic.
Pejic, 20, is a good choice if you want to boast how effective your
"mega" push-up bras are, considering he has no breasts to speak of. The
gender-bending model—who does model menswear, too—was also featured in a
wedding dress in a Gaultier show this year, AFP notes.
"Pejic looks very pretty in the pictures," writes Alex Rees in New York,
but is this truly a good message to send to young women, who are
already pushed to be super-skinny? The campaign, Rees concludes, "seems
certain to foster a new round of opinion pieces about how lazy (and
often, gay male) fashion designers only want to design women's clothing
for boy-ish frames."

ARRIVED: That New Shop That Opened in Singapore was an Abercrombie!
The Straits Times reports: Employed by retail brand Abercrombie
& Fitch, about 40 of these male models stood in a straight line
flashing smiles and striking poses outside the yet-to-open flagship
store in Singapore's premier shopping district.
Among the 40 models, about five were sourced locally.
Responses from the ground were tepid at first this morning, with many onlookers taking pictures from afar. But, curiosity soon overtook the passers-by, and within half an hour, the men were swarmed.

SLAP: FOX News Columnist Outraged at Benetton Ad!
Yesterday, we reported that the Vatican threatened Benetton over its use of an image featuring the Pope kissing an Iman, in the brand's new unHATE campaign.
Others are furious too. Right-wing bloviator Dr. Keith Ablow, who was last in the headlines for suggesting that Chaz Bono's participation in Dancing with the Stars would make tomboy girls want to switch genders, is telling people they should be "outraged", mostly because the ads are so gay: If you are heterosexual, if you are a leader who believes your position demands decorum, if you are a person of substance who believes you should be valued for your mind, not just your sexuality, if you think that countries and religion deserve respect, not ridicule, you were attacked today by Benetton. You felt it. And you shouldn't be talked
out of your outrage.

LE CHIC: Why, Oh Why, Would Chanel Name Perfume 'Jersey'?
Simon Doonan wasn’t sure what to think when, while flipping through Vogue, he discovered that Chanel’s new scent is named Jersey.
“A fragrant homage to our Garden State, created by the legendary French fashion house?” Doonan wonders. Not quite: The name is actually an homage to cotton knit jersey fabric. Even so, Doonan found himself “a little concerned that the marketing folks at Chanel may have overestimated our ability to recalibrate our response to the word Jersey.” That changed when he set off to buy a bottle of the perfume and discovered it had sold out, he writes in Slate.
It would appear that, thanks in part to Jersey Shore and the Real Housewives, “Jersey is having an undeniable moment. Jersey is on a roll. Jersey is le dernier cri.” But arguably the best thing about Jersey, the state, is that no one from there would ever actually say “le dernier cri.” “It is virtually impossible to put on airs if you are from New Jersey,” Doonan concludes. Coco Chanel used to “go around saying absurd things … and inveighing haughtily against vulgarity. … If you were born in New Jersey, you need not waste your life tilting against the windmills of vulgarity: You can embrace it and become Snooki, which, upon reflection, seems like a hell of a lot more fun." It's WAR: Vera Wang Responds To Nancy Lee Grahn's Tweets!
On Tuesday night GENERAL HOSPITAL star Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) fired off several angry tweets about how someone at Vera Wang told the show’s costume department that the brand didn’t want its dresses on a soap opera. But according to Vera Wang, no one from GENERAL HOSPITAL actually reached out to them in the first place, according to We Love Soaps.
In her tweets, Grahn accused a sales associate at the fashion house’s Melrose Place store in Los Angeles of telling its wardrobe staff that “we don't do television & definitely not DAYTIME television….” Grahn went on to say that GENERAL HOSPITAL offered to buy the dress, but they were kicked out of the store.

FAUX PAS: Gap Closing Scores of Stores!
Gap, once the king of clothing chains, rapidly expanded before the recession; afterward, it found itself with more stores than shoppers. Now it plans to close 189 of its North American locations—more than a fifth of the total—by 2013, leaving some 700 remaining, the Wall Street Journal reports.
Gap didn't reveal which stores would be shuttered, but a rep explained that leases of tired stores won't be renewed, a move that will inject 2 million square feet of empty retail space into the market. Gap also had some fashion trouble: The chain has struggled to launch appealing styles and was behind the times on trends like high-end jeans, the Journal notes. Its profits in the first half of 2011 were at $422 million, down 21% from a year before. Gap's departure is more bad news for struggling malls; the chain is the top non-department store tenant for the country's biggest mall landlords. But the chain isn't shrinking everywhere—it's planning to keep growing in China, for example. Meanwhile, 50 new Gap outlet stores are on their way.

OFFENSIVE: Urban Outfitters' 'Vulgar' Navajo Collection Attacked!
Urban Outfitters might have thought it was getting all back to the land with its "Navajo" collection of kitschy clothing and accessories. But a Native American woman is angry about the campaign, which she say disrespects her heritage. Sasha Houston Brown, 24, of Minneapolis, has fired off a letter to the CEO calling the "inauthentic" offerings "cheap, vulgar, and culturally offensive." Some of the products the trendy retailer sells include the "Navajo Hipster Panty" and the "Navajo Print Fabric Wrapped Flask," notes ABC News.
The chachkas "make a mockery of our identity and unique cultures," Brown writes. Urban Outfitters hasn't responded to Brown. But a spokesman told ABC that the company is sticking to its guns. "The Native American-inspired trend and specifically the term 'Navajo' have been cycling thru fashion, fine art, and design for the last few years," he said. "We currently have no plans to modify or discontinue any of these products." Brown claims the products are not only offensive, but may be illegal under the Federal Trade Commission and Federal Indian Arts and Crafts Act. "It's illegal to sell any art or craft product in a manner that falsely suggests it is Indian produced, an Indian product, or the product of a particular Indian or Indian tribe," she said.
