(TIME Warp) 45 Years after Mike Wallace's 'The Homosexuals' Broke Ground!

Mike Wallace, late of CBS's 60 Minutes, died last night at age 93. He perished in an assisted care facility near New Canaan, CT.

Over 45 Years ago, Wallace Hosted Television's First glimpse of Homosexuality,  Given the era in which it was produced, it's admirably open-minded: gay folk, at least male ones, are allowed to speak their pieces freely and at length. (I was especially interested in the weird hand-wringing about the possibility of a "gay mafia" ruling pop art and fashion, which seems rather incidental to the segment's central question: Is it desirable to legislate against private sexual behavior? On this question, at least, it seems Wallace wished to alight gently on the side of history.)Within 2 Years, Gay Liberation Happened.

(OUTscene America) INTER-view: George Takei finds new success in activism, social media!

by Craig Sailor
OUTscene Contributor

Once only a lieutenant on the fabled Starship Enterprise, George Takei has become a captain in pop culture and the most visible alum of that 1960s sci-fi television show, “Star Trek.”

Takei appeared Saturday at Emerald City Comicon. Some of Takei’s young fans have never seen an episode of “Star Trek” or the six subsequent motion pictures based on it. But they’ve gotten to know the 74-year-old Takei as he continues to act, works as an activist and, until recently, was a contestant on Donald Trump’s “The Celebrity Apprentice,” and has become a titan of social media.

(MY view) Rick Santorum and the Pink Bowling Ball: A Man with a Bully Complex!

by Michelangelo Signorile

Over the past few weeks it seems Rick Santorum has accused anyone who even remotely gets under his skin of being a "bully." He called Mitt Romney a "bully" back in February. Earlier in the week, at a campaign event in Wisconsin, he called unions "bullies." And he accused New York Times reporter Jeff Zeleny of trying to "bully" him.

But an incident at a campaign stop at a bowling alley yesterday betrays that Santorum is so obsessed with bullies because he looks at one one every morning in the mirror.

According to Reuters reporter Sam Youngman, who tweeted what he heard, Santorum had some advice for a little boy who was reaching for a pink bowling ball: "You're not gonna use the pink ball. We're not gonna let you do that. Not on camera."

Santorum may just as well have called the kid a "fag." Or was there some other thing he was implying the kid would look like if he used the pink bowling ball? I can't think of one, can you?
