CAGED: LiLo Gets 30 Days in Slammer!

Lindsay Lohan is officially going to jail—but not for very long. Judge Stephanie Sautner sentenced the actress/aspiring Playboy model to 30 days behind bars today, after she admitted to violating her probation by skipping therapy sessions at the Downtown Women’s Center. But the county sheriff’s department tells TMZ that Lohan will probably only serve 20% of that sentence—or six days.

Sautner also laid out a strict schedule for the remainder of Lohan’s probation, saying she must complete all of her remaining community service time at the county morgue, and that if she doesn’t complete it and her therapy by March 29 she’ll get another 270 days in jail. She also advised Lohan to quit tweeting about her morgue shifts. Still, Lohan seemed to think she’d gotten off easy—as she left court she was heard muttering, “Thank God.

JUSTICE: Two Arrested in Horrific Texas Attack on Gay Man!

On Tuesday I posted about the brutal attack on Burke Burnett in Reno, Texas. Burnett said he was attacked by four men at a private party early Sunday morning. The men stabbed him with a broken beer bottle before throwing him onto a fire. His attackers hurled ugly anti-gay slurs as they beat him.

BurnettTwo men have been arrested, the Dallas Voice reports: Reno Police Chief Jeff W. Sugg announced in a two-sentence statement this morning that Daniel Martin and James “Tray” Mitchell Lasiter have been arrested in the beating of 26-year-old Burke Burnett...Reno police spokeswoman Alicia Myrick told Dallas Voice that Martin and Lasiter are charged with aggravated assault with a a deadly weapon, causing serious bodily injury — a first-degree felony punishable by five to 99 years in prison. According to Sugg’s statement, the investigation is ongoing. Myrick said it will be up the Lamar County District Attorney’s Office to determine whether the case is prosecuted as a hate crime."

The case is unlikely to be prosecuted as a hate crime, according to the Voice, because "there is no penalty enhancement for a hate crime if the offense is a first-degree felony..." It will be up to the Lamar County District Attorney’s Office to decide whether to prosecute it that way.

MEATBALL: UK Denies Assange's Extradition Appeal!

Julian Assange is likely headed to Sweden after a British court today rejected his claim that extraditing him to face sex assault charges there would be "unfair and unlawful." Charges of rape and sexual coercion, stemming from alleged incidents last August, await the WikiLeaks founder in Sweden. "There can be no doubt that if what Mr. Assange had done had been done in England and Wales, he would have been charged," read the ruling, rejecting Assange's claim that his actions would not have been considered criminal in the UK.

Supporters crowded outside the London courthouse, notes the Telegraph, carrying signs that echoed Assange's own claim that the charges were politically motivated. Assange's remaining hope of avoiding extradition is an appeal to the country's highest court, notes the AP, an avenue a legal expert says Assange can take only if today's ruling involves an issue of "real legal significance." Barring that, Assange will likely be extradited within 10 days.

TRAGIC: Glee Singer's Dad Stabbed to Death!

Glee singer Charice Pempengco's father was killed after what police believe was a chance encounter with an angry drunk in her hometown in the Philippines. Police say Ricky Pempengco accidentally brushed up against a drunk man in a store, who stabbed him with an ice pick and fled, AP reports.

Pempengo was estranged from his 19-year-old daughter, who had a recurring role in Glee's second season and is on her way to becoming a megastar in Asia. Her parents split up when she was three, after what her mother says were fights caused by her father's drug abuse. “I loved him and I will still love him. He’s still my Dad after all," the singer posted on Twitter.

CAUGHT: Man Busted in Flight Attendant's Mexico Murder!

A man has been busted in the murder of a US Airways flight attendant who was found naked, bound, and strangled in a Mexico City hotel. FBI agents nabbed the suspected killer of Nick Aaronson using a hotel surveillance camera and tracking the GPS on his stolen cell phone, reports KPHO TV in Phoenix.

"I wish they had the death penalty in Mexico," Aaronson's mom said. The killer "took the light out of my life," she added. Aaronson was in Mexico during a work layover and his body was found by co-workers. His luggage was strewn about and cash was missing, according to authorities. He apparently met his 20-year-old killer in a local bar before Aaronson returned to the hotel with him. The suspect has admitted punching Aaronson, but denies that he killed him.

BUSTED: Teen Arrested in Connection with Murder of Gay Scottish Barman Stuart Walker!

A teenager has been arrested in connection with the murder of gay Scottish barman Stuart Walker. Walker's body was found beaten and burned in a rural area outside Cumnock in Ayrshire in Scotland early on Saturday after spending a night out with friends.

Stuart_walkerSTV reports: Strathclyde Police confirmed the man was taken into custody on Thursday evening, less than a week after Mr Walker's body was discovered at an industrial estate in Cumnock, Ayrshire.

A police spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that an 18-year-old man is currently detained in connection with this inquiry."

No further details have been offered.

Divisional Commander John Thomson of the Strathclyde Police said earlier this week that the victim’s lifestyle was the "main focus" of his inquiries: "I don’t think it was a random attack by someone who will strike again. MYSTERY: String of Gay Bashings in West Hollywood Unrelated!

Gaybashing
A string of recent gay bashings in West Hollywood, reported in detail over at WeHo Confidential, are not related, says Mayor John Duran and police officials.

The blog and Duran are at odds over what is going on. Said Duran, yesterday: "This is what happens when people try to do investigations through social media. You know somebody, who knows somebody. Before you know it there are a rash of gay beatings going on, it's not true."

L.A. Weekly says it is looking into it.

VIOLATION: Slain Gay Scottish Barman Most Likely Knew Killer, May Have Been Sexually Assaulted!

A few more details have emerged in the death of gay Scottish barman Stuart Walker over the weekend. Walker's body was found beaten and burned in a rural area outside Cumnock in Ayrshire in Scotland early on Saturday.

Stuart_walkerPink Paper reports: Strathclyde Police previously said they were investigating the possibility that he was attacked because of his sexuality, but now, Divisional Commander John Thomson says the victim’s lifestyle is the "main focus" of his inquiries. As Walker’s body was found partially undressed, Thomson said a sexual element to the crime had not been ruled out.

The details were announced at a press conference in Kilmarnock police office, last night.

It was revealed that Walker – a former assistant manager at the Royal Hotel in Cumnock – had almost certainly known those who killed him. Thomson said: "I don’t think it was a random attack by someone who will strike again. I suspect Stuart may have known this individual or met this individual shortly before his death."

Initial reports that he was found tied to a lamppost were incorrect, police said. They still do not have a motive for the murder.

VICIOUS: Gay Man Found Brutally Murdered in Scotland!

A gay man's body was found beaten and burned and tied to a lamppost on the outskirts of his hometown Cumnock in Ayrshire in Scotland early On Saturday. Stuart Walker, who had recently started work at a bar days before his murder, was supposed to have attended his grandmother 80th birthday party but never showed up.

WalkerPolice are investigating whether Walker's being gay played a part in the crimes against him (as many are speculating), but, as of yet, have no solid evidence.

The Daily Record reports: Stuart's friends last saw him alive near the fire station in Glaisnock Street at about 2.30am. His scorched and beaten body was found tied to a lamppost just before 5am on the Caponacre industrial estate on the outskirts of town.

Detective Inspector John Hogg, of Ayr CID, said yesterday: "It is imperative that we find out where he was between 2.30am and 4.50am, who he was with and why this happened to him.

"We understand that there may have been a number of house parties in the nearby Netherthird housing estate in the early hours of the morning - between 2am and 3am.
"At this time we do not know if these parties are linked to our investigation or not, so again, any information on that is important. Officers are checking CCTV and carrying out door-to-door inquiries in the area and we would encourage anyone with information to approach them or to call."

Yesterday, flowers were laid near the murder scene. One left by his gran read: "Miss + Love you always our dear grandson. Sleep tight, Gran and Papa."

THEORY: Was Van Gogh Murdered by his Young Male Admirer (Lover)?

The accepted explanation for Vincent Van Gogh's death may be all wrong. While the standard story is that the artist shot himself in a field, managing to return to a nearby inn before he died, a new 900-page book paints a very different picture. In Van Gogh: The Life, Steven Naifeh and Gregory White Smith postulate that a local teenager shot Van Gogh, likely accidentally, the Telegraph reports.

The teen, one Rene Secretan, had formed an odd relationship with Van Gogh; he mocked the painter and bought him drinks. After the shooting, Van Gogh was asked whether he intended to kill himself; he said, "Yes, I believe so." Naifeh and Smith say the painter didn't want to get the boy in trouble and wanted to die anyway. They also write that the angle of the bullet's entry path isn't what you'd expect in a suicide. The authors' version, which the BBC notes is based on thousands of letters studied over a decade, helps explain why neither a gun nor a suicide note was found, but they acknowledge that "no one knows what happened."

UN-MASKED: Seattle Superhero, Phoenix Jones, reveals his true Identity for the Press!!

Even superheroes aren't above the law. Self-appointed Seattle crime-fighter Phoenix Jones was in court today following his arrest in a pepper-spray debacle. No charges have yet been filed against Jones' mild-mannered alter-ego (read: real identity), one Benjamin Fodor; prosecutors told the judge today they want more time to make a decision, the Seattle Times reports.

Fodor was arrested after blasting pepper spray at people; he says he was breaking up a fight. And his run-in with the law hasn't stopped him from his mission. After the hearing, Fodor ripped off his shirt, Superman-style, to display his superhero costume. "I will continue to patrol with my team, probably tonight," he told reporters. "In addition to being Phoenix Jones, I am also Ben Fodor, father and brother," he noted. "I am just like everybody else. The only difference is that I try to stop crime in my neighborhood and everywhere else."

It was like the scene when the Green Arrow revealed his identity on Smallville or when Torch reveals himself in Fantastic 4. Awesome!

FOOLED: Seattle 'Superhero' Nabbed in Pepper Spray Incident!

Seattle's self-proclaimed superhero is under arrest for his role in a pepper spray scuffle among early morning clubgoers, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports. The alleged victims told police that Phoenix Jones—his real name is withheld pending charges—ran up to them on the street in the wee hours yesterday and sprayed them. But a spokesman for the masked man says that a video, available here, shows Jones breaking up a fight.

Police say the video simply shows Jones being chased away by clubgoers—one being a woman who batters him repeatedly with her purse. Jones "has a history of injecting himself in these incidents," an officer wrote in his report. "Recently there have been reports of citizens being pepper sprayed by [him] and his group." Earlier this year, the masked avenger was beat up by thugs and threatened at gunpoint for trying to stop a fight.

GONE: Stolen Masterpieces 'Crushed by Garbage Truck'!

A Paris watchmaker says he threw out several priceless works of art before being arrested last year, the Telegraph reports. Revealing a long investigation today, police say a Serb nicknamed "Spiderman" stole works by Picasso, Matisse, Braque, and others from a poorly guarded Paris museum in May 2010. An antiques dealer then allegedly passed the works to a watchmaker with expertise in auctions, who "panicked and destroyed the canvasses before throwing them into a rubbish bin."

Detectives are dubious, they say, but can't "totally rule out" his story. In another delicious detail, police say "Spiderman" sought only a Fernand Léger work when he broke into the Musée d'Art Moderne opposite the Eiffel Tower—but the alarm didn't sound, so the "veritable art lover" strolled around for an hour while eluding cameras. Eventually he walked off with five works worth an estimated $100 million. Police say he snitched on the antique dealer after failing to receive his promised $40,000 payment.

NO HATE: Spokane Police Say Alleged Anti-Gay Hate Crime Just a Drunken Brawl!

Danny Hawkins, a Spokane, Washinton man, enlisted the local gay rights group Out Spokane over the weekend in taking the claims that an attack on him was bias-related to the media, KXLY reports: Hawkins Hawkins said at a news conference Saturday afternoon at the LGBT center in North Spokane that he was attacked as he left Dempsey's Brass Rail around one a.m. because he touched a man's car. Hawkins explains he put his hand on the hood of the car, thinking that the driver was unaware he was there and was in danger of being struck by the vehicle. Hawkins says this was a hate crime because the man who beat him up was yelling gay slurs.
