Aren't Scott Brown and Elizabeth Warren supposed to be debating the social contract and other lofty things? Their Senate race just took a low detour: Warren made a point during a debate Tuesday to take a jab at Brown's old Cosmo cover, saying that when she was a college student, she took out loans to pay the bills and kept her clothes on. "Thank God," Brown told a local radio station in response, reports the Hill.
He and the host then laughed. "I went to the school of hard knocks," Brown said. "I did what I had to do, and but not for having that opportunity, I never would have been able to pay for school, and never would have gone to school, and I wouldn't probably be talking to you, so whatever." The Warren camp did not respond today to his retort. Click for more details on Brown's back and forth with the host on WZLX.

GOD: Some Russians Worship Putin— Literally!
At the Chapel of Russia's Resurrection, in a village 250 miles east of Moscow, the parishioners pray to a most unusual patron saint—Vladimir Putin, who they consider a reincarnation of St. Paul, reports Der Spiegel. The church was founded by a woman who calls herself "Mother Fotina" and claims to be a reincarnation of Joan of Arc. "I proclaim what God has revealed to me," she says. Fotina once led the "Center of Cosmo-Energetic Medicine," but now she says that the Holy Spirit changed Putin once he became the leader of Russia, just like Saul became Paul in the Bible. And she is not the only one with such beliefs—across Russia, admiration of Putin is escalating into religious worship. Posters in St. Petersburg, Putin's hometown, have depicted him as an angel. Polls indicate that 57% of Russians have seen signs of a Putin cult developing, and 52% approve.

WET: Sweaty Nike Shirts Weighing Barcelona Down?
Nike is selling a ton of its new specially-designed Barcelona kits (that’s uniforms for the Americans in the audience), but there’s one big problem: The team hates them. Why? Because the eco-friendly shirts, which are supposed to improve performance somehow, actually get so dang sweaty that the players feel weighed down by them, the Guardian reports. Players came back from their preseason US tour complaining the shirts “weighed a ton” and “stuck to the body like a limpet.” The problem hasn’t subsided since the start of the season.
Some frustrated players have even taking to weighing the shirts before, during, and after games. Their findings? By halftime the shirt, which usually clocks in at a little less than half a pound, has more than doubled in weight. Team officials met with Nike on Friday to air their grievances, and Nike says its product team is currently testing solutions.

TAKEN: The Objectification of Chris Evans!
Now that he's Captain America, Chris Evans has apparently thrown out his silly ban on gratuitous shirtlessness,as evidenced by his lawyer wardrobe in Puncture.
Yet he still thinks he needs a butt double. Says Evans of his role in What's Your Number with Anna Faris: "My butt double is my roommate in Boston! He's a kid I grew up with. Anna said she got a butt double for the bay scene. My buddy Zach was like, 'Who's going to be your butt double?' and I said, 'I don't know. Do you want the gig?' I brought him down, he met the director, did a little spin around and boom -- he's in the movie! He's got a great ass."

GRINDED: Shirtless Starbucks Barista Fired Over Musical Rant at Customers!
Christopher Cristwell, a Starbucks barista who posted a shirtless musical rant to YouTube in July disparaging the coffee chain's customers was fired in the middle of his shift on Tuesday, the Boston Herald's Working Stiff reports.
Said Cristwell: “In a way, I did them a favor. I saw this as the only way those of us on the lowest rungs of the ladder can make any changes. They obviously didn’t see me as a threat because they let me work for a week since my first meeting with human resources...This song is not 100 percent autobiographical. The funny part is that I truly consider myself a people person, and I’m really passionate about coffee...In any high stress environment, you need to have healthy ways to break the tension. If you go work at Starbucks, I bet you that after your shift you’ll be complaining about the same things to your friends.”
