(SOAP Q) My General Hospital Story!

Today is the 50th Anniversary of General Hospital and I couldn't let this day pass without talking about my own GH experience. As Most, I starting watching because my mom and sister were fans. At 10, I was more interested in GH, than 'All in the Family' Reruns or Cartoons. The summer of Laura and Scotty, Heather and Jeff, Bobbie and Luke, Rick , Monica, Lesley and Alan and then the Luke and Laura!

So in 1992, the summer before College, I was in LA and got an Internship interview at the ABC Prospect Studios. Back in those days, once you were cleared at the gate, you could go anywhere on the lot. By Accident, I came upon the studio for the Home Show! The daily Talker hosted by Gary Collins. I ended up in hallway that were the dressing rooms. A staffer told me how to get to the GH studio from there. The GH Studio had  6 to 8 sets up, (Including the Hospital set, and the Webber/Scorpio Living room, Kelly's Diner and a outside shot of Bobbie's brownstone.) I found the stairwell, which they have used as the Hospital and Hotel stairwell. I went up 2-flights to the Offices of Production. The interview went well. I was then free to head back to the set and it was like a maze trying to find the exit. I did stop off and watch a scene of Bobbie, Tony and and Mac (Jackie Zeman, Brad Maule, John J. York) during the conclusion of t Bobbie being taken Hostage by cop killer, Joseph Atkins ( Scott Lincoln). Jackie and Brad had some pretty intense scenes and you could hear a pin drop. Later, I was introduced to Jackie (Who had just returned from maternity leave, after giving birth to daughter, Lacey), she was wearing a white blouse with fake blood stains. I welcomed her back to the show. I later spotted Sharon Wyatt (Tiffany) in a Blue pant suit getting ready to walk onto the Kelly's Diner set. She spotted me and smiled. While trying to find the exit, I ran smack into actor, Scott Lincoln (Joe), who was nicer and attractive in person. I found the exit, but I really didn't want to leave or have that day end.

We have all seen the sexual attraction between Will (19-20ish) and his former, step-dad EJ (mid-30's). Now that Will (who just came out as gay and has not had his first sexual experience with a guy) has Power over EJ, will he use EJ for sex? Hairy Austin is Back!

In July 1992 an aspiring (Hairy Chested) boxer named Austin Reed (Patrick Muldoon) came to Salem, and his troubled sister Billie Reed followed weeks later. He was instantly smitten with Carrie Brady. Carrie gave Billie a place to stay, which led to the two of them spending a lot of time together. Carrie and Austin were doing great until Sami arrived in town in December of that same year and Austin didn’t throw a fight, which drew the ire of a lot of bad people. Due to this, acid was thrown on Carrie’s face, scarring her. Carrie went through reconstructive surgery, while Austin dealt with the murder of his father, Curtis. Billie was the prime suspect. At the trial, both Billie and Austin learned that Kate Roberts was their biological mother – making Lucas Roberts their half-brother. Meanwhile, Carrie’s half-sister Sami Brady was obsessed with Austin and plotting any way she could to get him.

By Popular Demand, I bring you the return of Soap Q's HUNK of the Week. This Week it is the doozy. Steven Lars Grant Webber (Scott Reeves) was born in 1977 (On Camera) to GH's Dr. Jeff Webber (Richard Dean Anderson) and Money-Hungry, Heather Grant (Played by Cher's Real Life, sister Georgeanne Lapiere, Mary O'Brien and then Robin Matson). But Heather thinking that the already Married, Jeff didn't want her or Baby, sold Steven Lars and later told Jeff he was still-born. LIE! Later, Jeff and Heather reunited and sensed that S-L was still alive and not realizing his Pals, Dr Peter Taylor and his wife Diana Taylor, RN had Bought a Baby, not realizing that he was really Steven Lars!

(SOAP Q) ReCap; 'Ringer' Lesbian SHOCKER!

CW's 'Ringer' had a moment that No One saw coming when Andrew's Deranged Ex-wife, Catherine was behind the Murder attempts of Siobhan (Actually Bridget) and had a huge secret.

CATHERINE IS A SECRET LESBIAN WITH OLIVIA!!!!! It was such a genius, batsh*t moment that I couldn't keep it in. So apparently, their love blossomed like six weeks ago(!) after Andrew threw her out and she could only go to Olivia. The pair then lounged on some weird chaise with wine and fell in love. Catherine even told Olivia about the hit on Siobhan and Olivia reciprocated  with the reveal about the ponzi scheme. While the two lovers are having their phone chat, Bridget tells Juliet to grab the hit man phone under the chair. Bridget then uses it to call Machado and she leaves the line open and talks loudly to Catherine so he can hear the craziness ensuing.

EMBARRASSMENT: Was This Year's Daytime EMMYS the worst Ever? Hell Yeah!

I have never been to the Daytime Emmys, and I don't see it ever a possibility ever again. The EMMYS was last night, (I Think). After Years of being in Mid May on a Friday with a preceding Prime Time Episode of Y&R or DAYS was the hey day of the 90's. Back in the 70's and 80's the genre stayed in the Daytime and saluted Daytime. Soaps, Talk shows, Games shows and Children's programming. The Only cheesy thing about it was the Soap stars performed an opening number. But was always True class and dignity. Soaps used to the Broadway of Television, but it has been pushed aside as Joke.

For the second year in the row, The Emmys were held in June when no one was watching TV. Last year on Pride Day and this years on Father's Day.

From the silly opening number with Vegas acts and Wayne Brady, who's Game show (Let's make a Deal) killed GL and replaced it. This show or Brady were not even nominated. They passed out a few awards that no one knew because they showed no clips. Created an award for Oprah who Tape a speech a month ago (When she still had a set). Focused on Elvis, Celene, Elton, Donnie and Marie (At least they have worked in Daytime, 10 years ago!), Penn and Teller Once appeared on OLTL 20 years ago) Anderson attended. Barbara Did Not, (More time on PSAs and Informercials of Vegas.) BORING to fans of Daytime.

Before I forget, Bold and Beautiful (a show that now one cares about) wins for Best Show. The Bland and Boring, Brittany Allen (AMC) over Powerhouse Actresses (If they showed the clips even the audience would see the comparison).

SOAP Q: Tom Skerritt NOT saddened by Brothers and Sisters Demise!

Spotted Actor, Tom Skerritt yesterday at an event in Seattle and this reporter had to ask about his reaction to the cancellation of Brothers and Sisters, where he played the cameo of the Family Patriarch, William Walker.

Skerritt's character (even though deceased and shown in Flashbacks) was the villain (embezzlement, cover ups, etc) of the show throughout its 5 yr run. So when I asked Skerritt about it, he said he had no emotional attachment to the show, and in fact rarely watches Television. Later after more pleading, he finally said he felt bad for his castmates who are out of work. Damn You, William Walker!

SOAP Q: The Sybil of Daytime celebrates 40 Years this week!

This week marks the 40th Anniversary of Erika Slezak (Daughter of screen Legend, Walter) the Grand Dame of 'One Life to Life", currently Erika is the 2nd Longest actress playing on the same show, with Susan Lucci as the Longest by about 14 months.

The Best stories was when Viki had 7 Personalities and was known as the Sybil of Daytime. Plus Many Emmys!

When I spoke with Former Lifer, Roscoe Born in 1989, on a set of a TV movie. Born said Slezak was the wild one of the bunch and that the Andrea Evans, who played Viki's wild sister, Tina was the 'Demure" one. In 1994, I met Slezak's sister, Ingrid, and got the scoop about the story that Erika was excited about and that was Viki didn't have just one other personality but 7! Please enjoy this montage that was done 10 years ago for Slezak's 30th.

SOAP Q: Daytime's FIRST Gay Sex scene was ONE Year ago!

Shocking of what a Year makes. ONE Year ago TODAY was the First Gay Sex scene on Daytime and I believe on Broadcast Television. Sadly OLTL's KISH was axed a few months later, and the focus went Back to ATWT's NUKE that created the first Gay Triangle on daytime with Reid, but RUKE never had sex before Reid was tragically killed off a week before the 54 yr old serial went to black for good. With no front burner Gay characters left on Daytime (Please don't count the sexless Bianca Recast on AMC and the recurring (and sexless) Rafe on Y & R). Phillip's brief return was too brief but we cheered when Phillip met Rafe. The chemistry was HOT. Phillip left again and we are left hanging. There was HOPE with a pairing of DAYS's Will (a Horton and a Brady) and sexual tension with Chad (a Dimera).The Bradys and Dimera's hate each other! But all the sudden Chad is missing and Will has been kissing his step-aunt, Gabi... BORING! At least Primetime is doing it right with 90210's Teddy and Kyle and B&S' Kevin and Scotty. MY suggestion is to explore the Chad and Will chemistry, Bring back Phillip for Rafe, Bring back AMC's Eden's Bianca (without Reese) and pair her up with Marissa and bring back GH's Lucas (in the form of  (ATWT's Luke) Van Hansis) and did I say also Bring back KISH!

SOAP Q: Shipp (Daytime's Original Torso) docks on OLTL Today!

In this weeks Soap Opera Digest, Emmy winner.  John Wesley Shipp is labeled Daytime's original torso, how appropriate for Shipp who returns to daytime TODAY on One Life to Live after a 16 yr absence.(He last played the wife beater, Carter on AMC and Loving in 1992-93). Of course he his playing another baddie, but he is playing Eddie Ford, father to the Hot 3 Ford brothers who show off their torsos daily!

I asked Shipp if he will showing off his torso as well, he said he is gladly passing the title down to the next generation!

Shipp is also Famous for playing the The Flash and as Dawson's Dad on Dawson's Creek.
