According to USAToday:
Devastated by the departure of Guiding Light from daytime TV? Now you can share your sorrow with fellow fans on a cruise ship.
Industry giant Carnival will be hosting a "final farewell" voyage for the legendary soap opera later this summer that will feature a dozen of its stars.
The five-night So Long Springfield Tour, as the sailing is being called, will take place on the 2,978-passenger Carnival Glory sailing out of New York City and will include stops in Saint John, New Brunswick and Halifax, Nova Scotia. It begins July 31.
Organizers says the Guiding Light actors on board will meet with fans, sign autographs, pose for photos and take part in other activities. They include Kim Zimmer (Reva), Jordan Clarke (Billy), Grant Aleksander (Phillip), Jerry Verdorn (Ross) and Ron Raines (Alan).
Also on board will be Michael O'Leary (Rick). Liz Kiefer (Blake), Justin Deas (Buzz), Robert Newman (Josh), Tina Sloan (Lillian), Marcy Rylan (Lizzie) and Beth Chamberlain (Beth).
Organizers say the first 200 registrants will be invited to a VIP Breakfast with the actors while aboard. Other activities in the works include a disco dance with the stars; soap star/soap fan karaoke; Q & A and trivia sessions; and workshops with a daytime TV director.
Created in 1937 as a radio show, Guiding Light was the longest running drama in the history of television and radio. It was canceled late last year.
Fares start at $949 per person, based on double occupancy, with lower rates for family members of Guiding Light fans who won't be taking part in activities. More information is available at celebrityeventsgroup.com.
