DEBUT!
By Mike Webber
After a disastrous year, and with hope coming from the move to LA, the show's 40th anniversary and the re-hiring of the great writer, Lorraine Broderick. 'All My Children's' future looked promising!
This past week the show received three major Blows 1) The fact that Broderick was only brought on temporary to SAVE the show and to be permanently replaced by co-head writers that buried daytime's 2 greatest shows. First off, Donna Swajeski, who had some good years at 'Another World' but also helmed GL in its final year along with, David Kreizman, who is currently helming 'As The World Turns", which is now its final year.
2) The loss of the great, James Mitchell who passed away this past week at age 89. What will Pine Valley do without Palmer? I also like that they finally acknowledged that Mitchell, who is a gay icon from appearing in 'the Band Wagon' and 'Oklahoma' is survived by a male companion.
3) The move from NY to LA looked like a good move that ABC wanted to save the show, but now comes news that the last show that switched coasts, from LA to NY in 2008, 'Ugly Betty' has been canceled. The doesn't give AMC much hope if after all this, AMC could be gone in the next 2 years. I pray that doesn't happen!
