(OUTscene America) RE-view: Eddie's Take on Week 6's RDR!

by Eddie Walker

In Episode 6 of RuPaul’s Drag Race (Season 4), we found out who was a champion, and who was just a chump.  Let’s start with the champion, who is none other than my favorite to win, Willam.  Willam won both the mini-challenge and the main challenge.

The mini-challenge was the “Spring Break 2012 Wet T-Shirt Contest.”  And Jiggly said it best in “Untucked”, when she said Willam won only because she was a “whore”.  And a “whore” was exactly what the crowd wanted, which is why Willam won.  If I was in that crowd, I would have voted for Willam too.  She was definitely whorish, but in a tasteful way which made her performance seem artistic like in “Flash Dance”.  The rest of the girls’ performances were crude compared to Willam’s.  They really need to step up there game if they want to compete with her.

(OUTscene America) RE-view: Eddie's Take on Week 5's RDR!

by Eddie Walker

Episode 5 of RuPaul’s Drag Race was crazy as usual.  It was this season’s “Snatch Game” episode.  And for the most part it was sloppy.  For the record, let me just say, “I despise toilet bowel humor.”  I find it offensive and unsophisticated.

And on that note, I will start with reading Jiggly Caliente first.  Her impersonation of Snooky definitely belonged in a toilet bowl, and flushed away.  What was all that “booty popping” she was doing?  It was so not cute.

(OUTscene America) RE-view: Eddie's Take on this weeks RDR!

by Eddie Walker

RuPaul got it right with that parting statement for the girls, at the end of the first episode, “Oh girls, while you’re back there, I would think of ways to make a more memorable impression.  That’s all.”  RuPaul’s Drag Race Season Four contestants are the most underwhelming contestants I have ever seen.  Where are the BeeBees, Ravens, Manilas, and Rajas from seasons past?  Is this as good as it gets?  If so, I guess we’ll just have to work with what we’ve got.  There are a few that have potential, but they all have issues.  Let me go down the list.

(OUTscene NW) RE-view: Project Red Dress was a Runway Hit!

by Eddie Walker
Outscene NW

Hats off to Eduardo Khawam.  He Directed the 4th Annual Project Red Dress Fashion Show on Feb. 3, 2012 at the Fairmount Olympic Hotel in Seattle, and it was truly a stellar event.  Produced by Monir Zandghoreishi. There was music by Conductor Geoffrey Larson with the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra.  Jim Dever hosted the event, and he was charming as ever.  And there was some fashion creations there to die for, but I’ll get to that in a minute.

Project Red Dress is Seattle’s annual fashion event that’s held to raise money for the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement.  The designers are local student who are given $200 for red fabric and 16 hours to produce a red dress.  The winner is awarded a scholarship.

The top five dresses were all well made and sellable.  However, they were all dresses I’ve seen before.  But when you think they only had 16 hours to produce these high quality garment from scratch, then I have to give them snaps.  What impressed me was dresses that were different, and me me feel a way I’ve never felt before.
The following are the designers, and my take on their creation.
