(OUTscene America) RE-view: Eddie's Take on Week 6's RDR!

by Eddie Walker

In Episode 6 of RuPaul’s Drag Race (Season 4), we found out who was a champion, and who was just a chump.  Let’s start with the champion, who is none other than my favorite to win, Willam.  Willam won both the mini-challenge and the main challenge.

The mini-challenge was the “Spring Break 2012 Wet T-Shirt Contest.”  And Jiggly said it best in “Untucked”, when she said Willam won only because she was a “whore”.  And a “whore” was exactly what the crowd wanted, which is why Willam won.  If I was in that crowd, I would have voted for Willam too.  She was definitely whorish, but in a tasteful way which made her performance seem artistic like in “Flash Dance”.  The rest of the girls’ performances were crude compared to Willam’s.  They really need to step up there game if they want to compete with her.

For the main challenge, the girls had to create a “fashion-forward” look around a Pride Parade boat.  Boats they had to decorate themselves, based on their designated color and the theme, “Hope Floats”.  Any of the girls could have won this challenge, because Willam’s boat did not make me think “Gay Pride” nor “Hope Floats”.  And Willam’s violet look, while it was designer, I think was a little understated for the purpose of being in a Pride Parade.  However, at the end of the day, Willam won because her boat, her look, and her delivery was the best.  Willam was the only one to get out of the boat and work the runway, so you can see her entire look.

Jiggly and Milan ended up being in the bottom two, which they deserved to be in.  Jiggly had a cute orange look that was definitely better than some of the other girls, but she had the worst boat.  Milan’s boat was second to worst, and she had the worst look in yellow - she came out looking like a boy again.  They had to ‘lip-sync for their life’ to Lady GaGa’s “Born This Way”.  As usual, Milan took here wig off, stripped half-way naked, and gave a very masculine performance.  For this, the judges and I both felt it was time for Milan to “sashay away”.

As for the rest of the girls…
Chad Michaels was checked for her “Vegas Show-Girl” look in pink not being very “fashion-forward”, and I would have to agree.  The look was definitely dated.

DiDa Ritz was checked for her look in red being too “pedestrian”, and all I could think was ‘well put’.  I will say that, the wig change from flat to curly did wonders for her.  Nevertheless, I think she’ll be in the bottom two next week.  She would have been in the bottom two this week, if Jiggly didn’t ‘fuck it up’ on the boat challenge.

Latrice Royale’s turquoise look was classy, and so was her boat.  Her hair and makeup was the best of all of the girls.  However, the judges are getting tired of seeing those dam combat boots, and so am I.

Phi Phi O’Hara’s purple look was fierce, and her makeup and hair hit the mark.  Finally, she’s looking like the 25 year old queen she is, instead of 45.  Those makeup tips she got from Kenya Michaels did wonders for her.

Sharon Needles’ green look was inventive with the snake glove, but that was about it.  She had the third to the worst boat, and her look was tie with Chad Michaels for third to the worst look.
