Anthony Geary (Luke Spencer) won his eighth Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor at the 42nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. Backstage after his victory, Michael Fairman chatted with the soap icon to get his thoughts on: winning the gold for the Luke/Fluke storyline, the emotional 52nd Anniversary episode of GH, where viewers learned of Luke’s haunted past, and his thoughts on his GH co-stars, his long time leading ladies Genie Francis and Jane Elliot, and what’s next for Luke.
Maura West (Ava Jerome) of General Hospital took home the gold for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series at the 42nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. After her victory, Michael Fairman chatted with an emotional and happy Maura, who reflected on playing the dynamic character of Ava Jerome and what it has meant to her and her daytime career. During the interview, Maura was joined by her husband Scott DeFreitas in a very touching moment.
Days of our Lives Freddie Smith chatted with Michael Fairman shortly after winning the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series at the 42nd Annual Daytime Emmys ceremonies. Smith delivered one of the more memorable acceptance speeches of the night, and in a bittersweet moment admitted that the Emmy is a nice capper on his time on DAYS playing Sonny Kiriakis, since he departed the series over a month ago. Freddie also revealed his co-star Guy Wilson’s reaction to his win, and what an opportunity it has been for him to play such an important TV role representing the LGBT community.
Chad Duell of General Hospital won his first Daytime Emmy, and in the Outstanding Supporting Actor category at the 42nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. Shortly after his Emmy win, Duell, who plays Michael Corinthos on the ABC daytime drama series, discussed with Michael Fairman his scenes with Maurice Benard (Sonny) that won him the gold, who he forgot to thank and who he thanked in his acceptance speech, and his reaction to receiving this honor from his peers.

Backstage, DAYS executive producer Ken Corday, Co-EP Greg Meng and long running series stars John Aniston (Victor), Suzanne Rogers (Maggie) and Eric Martsolf (Brady) celebrated their victory with Michael Fairman, and related their feelings knowing that the series heading into its 50th season took home the gold!
The Young and the Restless executive producer Jill Farren Phelps chats with Michael Fairman shortly after Y&R tied with Days of our Lives to win the Outstanding Drama Series award at the 42nd Annual Daytime Emmys.
