OH DEAR(est): Faye Dunaway's Landlord Sues to Evict Her!

Why is glamorous movie star Faye Dunaway paying just $1,048.72 a month to live in a third-floor one-bedroom walk-up apartment in New York City? Well, it turns out she may not be living there, though her name is on the lease—so her landlord is suing to evict her. The landlord claims Dunaway actually lives in California and that her son, Liam Dunaway O’Neill, lives in the rent-stabilized apartment. New York's rent stabilization rules require tenants to live in the rented apartment as a primary home. If another tenant moved in, the landlord could probably get twice as much in rent or more: Similar apartments in the same area go for an average of $2,318 a month.

Dunaway rented the apartment in 1994; in 2009, her landlord filed a notice for nonpayment of rent. But her lease was renewed in April 2009, the New York Times notes; her landlord then investigated her living situation and wanted her to vacate when that lease was up July 31. According to court papers, Dunaway actually lives in a West Hollywood home on which she still has a mortgage.
