Katie Couric Likely Gone From CBS News in June?

Katie Couric is expected to leave her post as anchor of the CBS Evening News in June, writes Howard Kurtz at the Daily Beast. She may stay with the network in some kind of daytime or syndicated talk show, but she's also exploring deals with ABC, NBC, and Time Warner. A leading contender to replace her is 60 Minutes correspondent Scott Pelley, who would surely make less than Couric's $15 million, writes Kurtz.

The show remains stuck in third place among the big three networks' evening newscasts, and Joe Flint at the Los Angeles Times notes that "CBS does not appear to be making a big push to keep her in the anchor chair." CBS CEO Les Moonves, who brought her over from NBC, seems content to let CBS News honchos Jeff Fager and David Rhodes handle things.

Good Riddance?
