FASHION: Italian Town Pushes for Miniskirt Ban!

An Italian seaside resort town seems like the perfect place to do things like sunbathe and frolic in miniskirts—but if the mayor of Castellammare di Stabia has his way, both of those things will be banned. Luigi Bobbio wants to crack down on miniskirts and other revealing clothing, with offenders facing fines of $35 to $696, the BBC reports. Activities like sunbathing and playing football in public will also be banned if the mayor’s proposals are approved today.

Bobbio says he is attempting to target people who are “rowdy, unruly, or simply badly behaved,” while a local priest calls the proposed ban “a way of combating the rise in sexual harassment.”
