After a 20 year hiatus from acting, Thom returned to The Young and the Restless last year and the role of Phillip Chancellor III. Not only did Thom come out in real life during the intervening years, but so did Phillip. While his storyline didn’t develop as fully as fans would have liked, it was great to have Thom back on TV screens. The character returned for six months and was last seen leaving for Australia with the door open to a possible return.
“I am excited to play Phillip on it again,” Thom said in a recent email to Greg in Hollywood. “I’m not sure when, although I have been told it will happen.”
While Thom has been bitten by the acting bug again, he remains a prolific artist whose paintings are extraordinary. His memoir, Forgiving Troy, is riveting and details how the murder of his mother by his mentally ill brother impacted Thom who at the time was at the height of his soap fame in the early 80s.
