(Mike's MAGIC) POLL RESULTS: Who had the MAGIC?

Last week we started a Poll of which 1 out the 6 guys in 'Magic Mike' was the most desirable. The Poll just ended and with over 2,000 votes the results are IN!

The winner was nearly a tie, but during the last hour ONE more vote landed on the star and former stripper, Channing Tatum @ 55%:

PROGRESS: 50% of NH Residents 'Strongly Oppose' Repealing Marriage Equality Law!

New HAmpshire's same-sex marriage law, passed in 2009, will be on the agenda for discussion of repeal when Republicans convene in January, but a new poll shows little support from the general public for doing so, WMUR reports: The WMUR Granite State poll shows that only 27 percent of New Hampshire adults support repealing same-sex marriage, while 50 percent strongly oppose repeal. The percentages are similar to a poll asking the same question in February.

The poll of 500 randomly selected New Hampshire adults was conducted by phone from Sept. 26 through Oct. 2 and has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 4.4 percent.

HUH: Cain No. 1 in National Poll!

A new Public Policy Polling survey reflects the Herman Cain surge: While it does not take into account last night's debate, in which Cain was front and center, it shows him comfortably atop the latest national poll. Cain has 30%, followed by Mitt Romney (22), Newt Gingrich (15), Rick Perry (14), Michele Bachmann (5), and Ron Paul (5).

The big caveat: Cain's support looks to be squishy, with only 30% of his backers saying they are solidly committed. Romney and Gingrich have similar percentages. Perry's slip to fourth behind Gingrich might look like another dose of bad news for him, but the Daily Intel blog at New York says not so fast. Consider that he has the highest percentage (48) of supporters who say they will definitely vote for him. "The proportion of Republicans who don't want to vote for Romney seems very large and undeterred by the lack of credible alternatives," writes Jonathan Chait. Perry has money and at least the possibility of improving as a debater. "If Republicans aren't flocking to Romney now, it's a sign they want to give every chance for somebody else to emerge."

PROGRESS: 86% of Americans Are OK With Interracial Marriage!

A full 86% of US adults approve of interracial marriage, a new Gallup poll shows—quite a change from the 4% who approved in 1958. UPI touts the high number, noting that approval is at its highest point yet, with the nation “on the verge of unanimity on the topic.”

But, as Margaret Hartmann notes on Jezebel, that number also implies that “more than one in 10 people are against two people loving each other because of the color of their skin.” African Americans approved of interracial marriage at a higher rate of 96%, while 84% of whites approved. Approval is also somewhat lower among Southerners, Republicans, conservatives, and those with less education. The least approving? The elderly, of whom just 66% approved.

We're HERE: America believes 1 in 4 citizens are gay!

Friday’s news from Gallup is a stunner, indeed, for apparently they find that US adults, on average, estimate that 25 percent of Americans are gay or lesbian.

To get to that figure, it took over half of Americans (52 percent) estimating that at least one in five Americans are gay or lesbian, including 35 percent who estimate that more than one in four are.

Thirty percent put the figure at less than 15 percent.

Only 4 percent of respondents chose a figure in line with scientific data, released earlier this year by UCLA’s Williams Institute.

In West Hollywood a solid 38 percent of people identify as gay, lesbian, transgender or bi-sexual.

New Study Places Number of LGBT Americans Near 9 Million!

A new study from The Williams Institute and researcher Gary Gates places the number of LGBT Americans near 9 million.

From the institute's press release: The Williams Institute, a leading think tank dedicated to the field of sexual orientation and gender identity-related law and public policy, released new research that estimates the size of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community in the United States. Drawing on information from four recent national and two state-level population-based surveys, the analyses suggest that there are more than 8 million adults in the US who are lesbian, gay, or bisexual, comprising 3.5% of the adult population. There are also nearly 700,000 transgender individuals in the US. In total, the study suggests that approximately 9 million Americans - roughly the population of New Jersey - identify as LGBT.

Meet America's Hottest Politician: Chris Christie?

Chris Christie isn't just hot stuff in his own mind: The New Jersey governor is the hottest politician in America right now, besting even the current occupant of the Oval Office by 57 points to 56.5 in Quinnipiac's latest poll. But while that's great for Christie, that's not so great for Republicans, notes Talking Points Memo, particularly those with their eye on the White House.

Compare Christie's performance with presumed candidates Mike Huckabee (51.8), Mitt Romney (50.4), Tim Pawlenty (48.2), Jon Huntsman (47.9), and Sarah Palin (38.2), and a GOP enthusiasm gap appears. Non-politicians actually topped the poll: First lady Michelle Obama scored 60.1, while a former politician by the name of Bill Clinton snagged 59.2.

POLL: 40% Approve of Kagan!

Forty percent of Americans think Elena Kagan was an "excellent" or "good" choice for the Supreme Court, while 14% rate President Obama's choice of nominee "poor," according to a new Gallup poll. That puts Kagan's initial approval numbers in line with those for Bush nominees Samuel Alito and Harriet Miers, but lower than Sonia Sotomayor and John Roberts.

Kagan stood apart from other recent Court nominees in only one way: A record 24% said they had no opinion about her either way. Unsurprisingly, Democrats were far more favorable (63%) toward Kagan than Republicans (18%). Some 35% of Independents approved of the choice, while 10% rated it poor. In contrast to Sonia Sotomayor, who polled better among women than men, no gender difference showed up in Kagan's approval numbers.

POLL: Would You Support a Gay Baseball Commissioner?

Would you be OK with a gay baseball commissioner? How about a quarterback? Those are just a couple of the random-yet-revealing questions asked in the new 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair poll.
In that question, for example, 62% said they’d be OK with the quarterback, and 61% with the baseball commissioner, while 50% said they’d support a gay president. Other results included:
Only 28% believe sex addiction is a medical condition. A third of respondents said it wasn’t, and another third said “maybe, but celebrities who have it are jerks.”

Asked which highly-publicized event they’d pay attention to, the finale of a big TV show won out among women, while men said they’d prefer the launch of a new Apple gadget.

Americans still support Jack Kevorkian—40% say he’s “not as bad as he’s made out to be,” while another 15% call him a “humane and principled medical professional.”

Only 43% knew that “Waterloo” was a reference to Napoleon.

For complete results, check Vanity Fair, or to vote yourself, head to 60 Minutes.
