"The fact is, I'm gay." Anderson Cooper's long-awaited announcement sums what it meant to come out in 2012. Again and again we heard the same sentiment — from pop singer Mika's equally anticipated confirmation, "If you ask me am I gay, I say yeah," to actor Andrew Rannells casually remarking about relating to a gay character, "I am gay in real life, so I definitely get it." —  proving that coming out today is in many cases a non-event, and certainly secondary to other achievements.

Robert James-Collier 35, is a British actor and model. He is known for his roles as Liam Connor in Coronation Street and Thomas Barrow on Downton Abbey.

Iwan Rheon, 27, is an Olivier Award-winning Welsh stage, film and television actor, singer, guitar player and a graduate of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He is best known for his portrayal of Simon Bellamy in LOGO's Misfits.

Simon is a weird, Loner, Virgin Bullied type. So it was relief when started playing a duel role with his future self. A Masked Hero and revealed his gorgeous physique. After 2 episodes, the gorgeous Simon was killed off. Let's hope the other Simon comes out of his shell soon and shows us more SKIN!

• Other big songs: Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" came in second, followed by "We Are Young" by fun.

Seth MacFarlane, 39, is an American actor, voice actor, animator, screenwriter, comedian, producer, director, and singer. He is the creator of Family Guy (1999–present) and as co-creator of American Dad! (2005–present) and The Cleveland Show (2009–present), for which he also voices many of the shows' various characters. On October 1, 2012, it was announced that MacFarlane will host the 85th Academy Awards on February 24, 2013.
