(SHOWcase) Adoptable! - Season One!

ADOPTABLE! is an awkward and bittersweet comic web series written by and starring Scott Lowell loosely based on his own experiences searching for his birth parents back in the late ’90’s. It is presented as a documentary being directed by Jennifer Lim (Linda Park of TV’s “Enterprise” & “Crash”) which follows successful actor and adult adoptee Scott Fishman (Lowell, "Queer as Folk", "Bones") of the hit TV show “Cops & Bottoms” in which he co-stars with Jerry O’Connell ("Sliders", "Stand By Me", "Jerry Maguire") as a fictionalized version of himself. Bowing somewhat to pressure from his fiancé, Lisa Crane (Emily Swallow, “The Mentalist”, “Monday Mornings”) and their therapist Bob Raskin (Jim O’Heir of “Parks and Recreation”) as well as his own desire to know himself a bit better before getting married and starting a family, Fishman embarks on the journey of seeking out his birth parents. He is aided along the way by an intermediary named Mary Elizabeths played by multi-Emmy Award® winner Sharon Gless (“Cagney & Lacey”, “Burn Notice”, “Queer as Folk”).

These days "web series" are not just being viewed on computer screens or portable devices. Many are being watched on big ol' TV's hanging on a wall. When I set out to write ADOPTABLE! I wanted to make sure it would tell the story in a way that would be just as visually interesting in a large screen format as it would on a phone. There are scenes that involve a parade, take place on Hollywood sound stages and planes and many other locations ... all these elements raise the cost of a production.

In trying to determine a budget for Season One of ADOPTABLE! I sought out the advice of many film and television producers with whom I've been fortunate enough to work. The figure the majority of them gave me was to budget it at approximately $1,000 per page. The script for the entire first season of ADOPTABLE! (as it stands now) is just over 60 pages. Now, I'm no math whiz (although I DID play an accountant on TV!) but it seems to me that 60 pages at $1,000 per page adds up to $60,000. Please SUPPORT this Project.
