The show, inspired by the It Gets Better anti-bullying campaign, features an ensemble cast of six actors (Jason Currie, Tyler Houston, Tod Macofsky, Mario Mosley, Sacha Sacket, and Drew Tablak) whose real-life stories of growing up gay are woven into the production.
The cast are members of the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles. While the chorus appeared in the finale of the Los Angeles kickoff event at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre, only the six stars will be part of the tour.
It was an extra nice touch to have It Gets Better founders Dan Savage and Terry Miller in the audience at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre. They were introduced after the performance and got a rousing ovation.
Future stops of the tour include Seattle (on 2/23), and Penn State in University Park, Pennsylvania.
The it gets better tour features a combination of original songs and songs by a who’s who of popular recording artists, including Rimes, Gnarls Barkley, Kelly Clarkson, and songwriter Diane Warren.
