(OUTscene NW) PRE-view: Outstanding & Unique Programs Final 4 Days‏ at SLGFF!

It’s time to “Come Out and Play” as the Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Festival (SLGFF) enters its final weekend with a slate of outstanding programs.  Laugh out loud comedies, timely documentaries, poignant dramas, premieres with big-name stars and cutting edge works from local and emerging talent are all highlighted during the final four (4) days.  The always popular Gay TV Dinner, along with the highly anticipated SWAN LAKE 3D and the CHICAGO Sing-along spotlight some of the unique and fun programming for which SLGFF has become well-known.  The festival is produced by Seattle nonprofit Three Dollar Bill Cinema.

Final weekend festival venues include the Northwest Film Forum, the Egyptian Theatre, Pacific Place AMC and Central Cinema.

Thursday, October 18

LOVE OR WHATEVER (7:15 p.m., Egyptian Theatre)
Filled with big laughs and hot guys, his “WeHo-rom-com” is an entertaining romp.

Jobriath A.D. (9:30 p.m., Egyptian Theatre)
Called “The American Bowie,” “The True Fairy of Rock & Roll” and the first openly gay rock star, Jobriath left a legacy deeper than his brief reign.  An early casualty of AIDS, new generations of fans have discovered him and the Pet Shop Boys, Joe Elliott of Def Leppard, Siouxsie Sioux, Scissor Sisters and Morrissey have all cited Jobriath as a groundbreaking influence.

Friday, October 19

Centerpiece Film:  CLOUDBURST (7:15 p.m., Pacific Place AMC)
Oscar-winning actresses Olympia Dukakis (MOONSTRUCK) and Brenda Fricker (MY LEFT FOOT) star in this infectious romantic comedy about two lovers who go on the lam in order to stay together.

Audience Award, Best Feature -- San Francisco Frameline
Grand Jury Award, Best Film -- Milan Lesbian and Gay Film Festival
Best of the Fest -- Palm Springs International Film Festival

WAXIE MOON IN FALLEN JEWEL (9:45 p.m., Pacific Place AMC)
Bending genders and blending genres, this musical-comedy by SLGFF Audience Award winner Wes Hurley follows Seattle’s beloved boylesque diva, the glittery Waxie Moon in his search for true love in the Emerald City.

Saturday, October 20

Shorts Program: Reel Queer Youth (1 p.m., Pacific Place AMC)
These three films were produced over the summer in Three Dollar Bill Cinema’s 2012 Reel Queer Youth filmmaking workshop, a video production and media literacy training program for LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer) youth and allies ages 13-20.  Funded by Three Dollar Bill Cinema and the City of Seattle Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs and produced in partnership with Reel Grrls.

SWAN LAKE 3D (4:30 p.m., Pacific Place AMC)
Presented in stunning 3D, Bourne’s contemporary and controversial gender-bending interpretation of the beloved Russian classic includes a revised Tchaikovsky score and a flock of gorgeous swans. The stage production completed four world tours, won over 30 prestigious awards (including a Tony), and was the longest-running ballet on Broadway.
Gay TV Dinner: Drag Race Unleashed (5 p.m., Central Cinema)
Bring back…my girls! Put the bass in your walk for this big-screen celebration of TV’s most charismatic, unique and nervy talent competition.

CHICAGO Sing-along (7 p.m., Central Cinema)
It’s time to rouge your knees and roll your stockings down, as we celebrate the ten-year anniversary of the Academy Award®-winning CHICAGO! Claim your 113 minutes of fame as Seattle’s version of Roxie, Velma, Billy or Mama.

Sunday, October 21

SEVENTH GAY ADVENTISTS (12:30 p.m., Pacific Place AMC
Faith, identity, and sexuality collide as three diverse gay and lesbian Seventh-Day Adventists struggle to follow both their church and their hearts. 

Closing Night: YOUNG & WILD
Based on the real-life blog (JovenyAlocada.com
) of lesbian co-writer Camila GutiÉrrez YOUNG & WILD is an uninhibited and enthralling film, utilizing sexy graphics and on-screen text to compliment the story of a bisexual love triangle at a Christian TV network. Contains explicit sexuality.
