Seattle, WA - It is a feast for the senses and it won’t leave you feeling hungry for more an hour later. Come enjoy the Asian delight that is the 2011 Mr. & Miss Gay Asian/Pacific Islander International Pageant.
In a beauty pageant unlike any other, Asian and Pacific Islander drag queens and kings, Studs and Transsexuals from across the Pacific Northwest will descend on Seattle’s Capitol Hill on Saturday, September 24, 2011 to compete for this prestigious title that began ten years ago!
Each year this event has taken place it has drawn the attention of the entire community and the City. Previous pageants have drawn more than 500 people and hype is beginning to build again for its return this year. The event is not only entertaining, it’s a great way to show support for the Queer Asian/Pacific Islander Community.
“This is our opportunity to put a face on a segment of the population that is often overlooked within the traditional Asian-American community,” said David Luc Nguyen, co-founder of API International. “The Mr. & Miss Gay API Pageant is our chance showcase the incredible talent, beauty and diversity within the queer Asian community on a grand stage.”
Contestants will be all dolled up and dressed in spectacular outfits for competition in their national costumes, formal wear, and swimsuits. And as if the talent portion of the pageant isn’t enough, the API Council has booked world class talent to entertain the large crowd expected for the evening festivities.
The evening will be hosted by celebrated Asian Drag Queens Jenuwine Beaute, Aleksa Manila, API Council President, Gaysha Starr and API Co-founders Shaka Kwan. Co-Founder Teriyaki Temple will also be on hand to celebrate the ten year anniversary of the council.
API plans to use some of this year’s pageant to benefit the Youth Suicide Prevention Program of Washington State to help fund their efforts in supporting GLBTQ youth that contemplate suicide due to the harassment they face due to their sexual orientation or gender identity.
Tickets for the pageant are $15 advance/$18 at the door or you may purchase them in advance on www.brownpapertickets.com/event/196920, after September 6th. This event is being organized in collaboration with The API International Council, www.gayshastarr.com, JJ Cariaso Photography and Make-Up, Collin Kwan Design, Neighbours Nightclub, Seattle Gay News, and TT (Teriyaki Temple) Productions.
