Late on Monday, August 29th as I made my way on the MegaBus to Washington, DC I Tweeted a Gorgeous photo of a Sunset as I entered the state of Maryland. By the time I arrived in the Nation's Capital it was dark, but quite Humid.
I checked into the Dupont Circle Carlyle Suites in a gorgeous room with a view of the Washington Monument and on the table was a bottle of wine, 2 glasses, and chocolates. Too Bad I was alone! I tried to enjoy it regardless.
On Tuesday, August 30th I met up with my DC Field Producer, Shawn in the hotel lobby as well as JoAnn Dana (VP) and JoAnn Sipe (Catering Director) for a Hotel Tour and Interview. This coverage will go with the NY footage to complete the Gay Weddings Feature (Coming Soon).
Later I meet up with an old friend at Stoney's in Dupont/Logan. But Retired early for a busy Wednesday ahead.
On Wednesday, August 31st, Headed to my afternoon Tour of the DC office of the Associated Press. The TWO level Office was a Broadcast Journalists Dream with broadcast style control room, Multiple TV monitors of programming similar to the one I saw years ago at CBS News, On line, video voice-over, radio pod-casting and Photo stock. Many Thanks to Matt at the AP!
Later, I got ready for my date at #9 with Interim LGBT Liaison, Raul Avillar, this meeting was 'off the record' since Raul and I met years ago at a Maria Cantwell/John Kerry event in Seattle. I was the only journalist who got close enough to the Liaison to The White House (Don't worry I got details soon).
The FINAL Day had arrived and surprisingly I didn't do much just checking out and making my way to Reagan-National airport and making my way back to Seattle and patted myself on the back for a 2 week adventure, a TRUE Success!
