The following proves the the point I made a few months back about IDOL not caring about the Gay Fans. According to Billboard, Idol Finalists that reached out to Gay Fans had done better to those who don't.
American Idol‘ winner Lee DeWyze is discovering that winning isn’t everything. His debut album “Live it Up” sold a paltry 39,000 copies in its first week to debut at No. 19 on the Billboard chart, a new low among winners or runners-up of the singing competition, according to Fancast.
It under-performed the previous low of Diana DeGarmo’s “Blue Skies” in 2004, which had 47,000. Even Justin Guarini, the season one runner-up, did better with 57,000.
But there’s hope that last season’s runner-up Crystal Bowersox will fare better with the Dec. 14 release of her “Farmer’s Daughter.” The releases of past runners up Adam Lambert (198,000 over Kris Allen’s 80,000) and Clay Aiken (613,000 over Ruben Studdard’s 417,000) fared better than their season’s winners.
Here’s the full report, courtesy of Billboard:
