I mourn the passing of Paul the octopuss!
Maybe he saw it coming: Paul the octopus, the unlikely hero of the 2010 World Cup, has been found dead in his German aquarium, reports Der Spiegel. Officials cite natural causes rather than angry German soccer fans, and say that the beloved psychic cephalopod will be cremated, not turned into calamari. The aquarium plans a monument.
"Paul delighted people from all continents with his seven consecutive correct predictions for the matches of the German national team and for the final," said the aquarium's general manager. "He was dear to all our hearts and we will sorely miss him. He died peacefully in the night of a natural death. It is a comforting thought that he had a good life with us with the best possible care delivered by a committed team."
