Barnes and Noble Censors Shirtless Androgynous Male Model for Looking Too Much Like a Woman

Androgynous male model Andrej Pejic covers the latest issue of Dossier magazine, but it's the androgyny he is so well known for that has Barnes & Noble censors covering the magazine with opaque poly bags.

Said Dossier Co-Founder and Creative Director Skye Parrott to the Huffington Post: "It's a naked man on the cover of a magazine, which is done all of the time without being covered up, so I definitely don't think it merits this, but I understand what it is...It's not a coincidence that it's only the giant U.S. chain stores that are asking us to do this....It's only the American copies that are being censored. It seems that it probably made people uncomfortable. But that's part of what's interesting about the cover, I think, is that it's playing with those ideas of gender roles. He's topless, you can see that he's a man, but if you look at his face, he looks like a woman and he's so beautiful, he's both in that picture, in a way. I think that's what's interesting about it."

CENSORED: Wasilla High School Bans Song by Gay Rock Legend!

An Alaska high school choir was up in arms after the principal banned a song for graduation because it was written by a gay rocker. Wasilla principal Dwight Probasco banned the 1975 Queen hit "Bohemian Rhapsody" from a graduation ceremony after complaints from parents about the sexual orientation of songwriter and lead singer of Queen, Freddie Mercury. “The whole thing was just ridiculous,” said a senior from Sarah Palin's hometown. “They’d played the song on the school intercom and we played it at prom. It’s a great song and the choir was really excited to be singing it. The senior class felt like it defined them."

Probasco has backed down since a student contacted a gay and lesbian organization in Anchorage for help. He has now agreed to allow an edited version of the song at graduation that doesn't include lyrics about a killing. Seniors believe the principal was worried about possible action from the ACLU, reports the Frontiersman.
