(OUTview AMERICA) INTER-view: MK gets the Dirt from Matthew Mckellgon about What's ahead on EASTSIDERS Season 2, Now out on DVD and VOD!

A New Man for Jeremy?                        (WOLFE)
by MK Scott

One of the most acclaimed and popular LGBT series, the first season was released by Wolfe Video in 2014, and was a popular hit digitally and on DVD. Season 2 continues to humorously chronicle the hip millennial population struggling to navigate life, love, and making the rent - set against the bohemian backdrop of the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles. Entertainment Weekly called the series 'funny and heartbreaking," and Out Magazine singled it out as "steamy and dramatic."

EASTSIDERS SEASON 2 was created, written and directed by actor Kit Williamson (Mad Men), who also stars in the series as Cal, an ambitious young photographer who navigates the complex world of modern gay life and monogamy with his boyfriend, Thom, played by Van Hansis (As The World Turns).

Matthew McKelligon (Interior Leather Bar and the upcoming, You're Killing Me), who plays Jeremy. and I chatted by email:

Not OVER? The Most Steamy Triangle, ever!   (WOLFE)
MK Scott:  Hello Matthew, How did Eastsiders first come about?

Matthew McKelligon: I was the very last person to audition for Jeremy and I nearly didn't make the audition as I'd been driving around the city all day and I was exhausted. John was running the camera while Kit read lines with me. We all felt like we might have met at a party before, though we weren't really sure. In any case, later that evening, Kit called me and offered me the part right away.

MK:  When we last saw Jeremy, he had got Thom away from Cal, but neglected to tell Thom that he also slept with Cal, will he finally tell on Cal? What's Next?

Matthew: Enough time has elapsed between seasons one and two to the point that we don't really have to underline either of those answers. We definitely leave it up for interpretation. Jeremy is busy forging his own roads in season two, so I'd like to think that whatever the result of their blow-up in season one, that it was ultimately a good thing for Jeremy, as well as Thom and Cal.

MK:  What direction would like Jeremy to go in?

Matthew:  For his own well being, I'd love for Jeremy to be a little less self-sabotaging, but then again, he might be less fun to play if he suddenly had all of his shit together. I think it'd be fun if Jeremy suddenly became an anal workaholic in an LTR with rigid morals--to an almost dysfunctional extent, of course. Let Jeremy's pendulum swing the other way. Turn him into a breadwinning monster.

MK: Does Jeremy have actually for feelings for Thom? Is it more than physical with Cal?

Matthew:  I think Jeremy was in wounded place where he could have developed feelings for a toaster, were he left alone in a room with it for long enough. Thom might very well be the first guy that Jeremy ever fell for, and so by that token it'd have to be more than physical with Cal as it's another conduit to get to know him through. We don't see much tension between Jeremy and Cal later on once Cal and Thom's relationship is on the skids, so perhaps this serves as some sort of backing to my theory.

MK: Burning Question: Who was the Best Kisser? Van or Kit? Will you Kiss and Tell?

Matthew:  It depends on what we had for lunch that day. Taking both seasons into account, though, I'd have to say Leith (Burke) was the best kisser.

Eastsiders Season 2 is available  NOW on DVD and VOD from Wolfe Video.
