(OUTview NW) RE-view: Gay Uncle Time is a Monthly event of Out with the OLD and IN with the NEW!

MKS
by MK Scott

After enjoying myself immensely at West Side Glory a few weeks back, I was even more excited to attend for the first time to Gay Uncle-Time with Jeffery Robert and Company.

What made this month so Delicious at Seattle's Monthly Celebration of Pop, Camp, Gay, Underground and Trash Culture from the 60's & 70's and BEYOND! was the celebration of the one and only Goddess Supreme of John Waters' Dreamlanders - Edith Massey. Actually, I was once a live-in "SLAVE" for someone who resembled her, (Save for the Book and movie version asking for a "Edith Massey Type").

Robert told the Story of  Massey through specially created posters of the Stars of John Waters, but it wasn't all about Divine or Edith Massey it also had Tab Hunter, Mink Stole and many more.

The audience at the Rendezvous was a mixture of young and old but true John Waters/Edie Massey Fans.

Massey in 'Desperate Living"
My Favorite Massey role was the one from 1977's 'Desperate Living" when Mink Stole and her super large maid, Jean Hill take refuge at an all Dyke Camp ruled by Massey's Queen Carlotta, who wants all the men for herself. I first saw it at a 2009 Midnight Madness with Peaches Christ with Mink Stole in attendance.

Moving past Edie Mania the rest of the evening featured random performances from Bryan Hawthorne's portrayal of Paul Lynde, the comedy of Aaron Fishbein. The operatic styling of  Little Bear the Bearded Lady, and a drag performance by Harlotte O'Scara!

It was great to see our very own, Ian Schuelke (of Ian Schuelke Wants a TV Show fame) who said is show is on hiatus until 2016.

In the meantime we have Gay-Uncle Time for now when it returns on September 16th with a look at the world of Tom Waits and his classic album 'Nighthawks at the Diner'. There will be jazz, there will be eggs and sausage and a side of toast, there will be poems, songs, stories, laughs, art and a stripper.

The Fabulous Special Guests for this show include Andre Pegeron, Erin Jordan, Robert J. Rial, Monisa Brown, Gams Galore, Bella Lunacy and more to be announced!

DETAILS: Wed, Sept 16, 2015, 7pm @ the Rendezvous (2322 2nd Ave in Belltown) FIVE CHEAP BUCKS CASH! 21 and over, please.
