(OUTscene AMERICA) INTER-view: MK gets the DISH from Boystown Season 3 author, Jake Biondi!

by MK Scott

‘BOYSTOWN’ series author Jake Biondi  has released the highly-anticipated THIRD book of his ‘BOYSTOWN’ series TODAY! .

The ‘BOYSTOWN’ series began as an online story released in installments, each ending with a cliffhanger.  November 2013, the first ten ‘episodes’ were published in book form as ‘BOYSTOWN Season One.’ Ending in spectacular cliffhanger, ‘Season One’ left the lives of several main characters in peril. Readers were left wondering who would survive and what would happen next. BOYSTOWN Season Two’ released in June 2014 answered readers’ questions and, of course, provided even more twists and turns for its fans. In Season Three it will offer even more twists and turns. I chatted with Biondi Via Facebook.

MK: Boystown Season 3, is finally here! What are some key moments in this Book?

Jake Biondi: BOYSTOWN Season Three begins where Season Two left off. Readers will find out who survived the New Year’s Eve explosion, whether or not Jesse’s plan to break up his mother and her husband worked, and who the fourth Mancini brother is. Like the previous two books, Season Three has tons of twists and turns that will keep the readers turning the pages. And everything builds up to another fantastic cliffhanger at the end of the book.

MK: What will make this different from the Other 2?

JB: Season Three takes things to an even more extreme level. The stakes are higher and the consequences are greater. Characters find themselves on the brink of romance, heartbreak, and even death. The twists and turns are faster and even more dramatic than in the previous two books. Many questions are answered and many new questions are raised.

MK: Tell us about any NEW Characters?

JB: There are two new characters in BOYSTOWN Season Three. Jensen Stone is a mysterious young man who works his way into several of the main characters’ lives -- and has his roots in the first book, although readers won’t realize it until now. And then there’s Dustin Alexander, a handsome, sexy young man who has a past that will be fully revealed in BOYSTOWN Season Four.

MK: I know your dream is to get the series on TV or the Web, how is that going?

JB: I am excited to say that it’s actually going very well. Two television producers have expressed interested in the series and I am very grateful to be working with them. Together, we hope to bring BOYSTOWN to a network in the very near future. Stay tuned.

MK: Any Dream Casting?

JB: It’s a bit premature to discuss casting at this point; however, I do have several actors in mind. In fact, several of the BOYSTOWN boys whose images are used in all of the BOYSTOWN promotional materials are actors themselves and I would love to have them involved. In addition, several more famous Hollywood actors have expressed an interest so I am excited to see how the cast will ultimately wind up.

MK: My Burning Question, Will there be a Fourth season?

JB: Absolutely! In fact, I have begun writing it already.

MK: Any Question I forgot to ask?

JB: Beginning in the second book, I have tried to feature and celebrate local performers. There are so many people who have been so supportive of BOYSTOWN that I wanted to use the books as a way to say “thank you” and support up-and-coming artists as well.

Whiskey & Cherries is a Chicago trio consisting of singers Meredith Freyre and Danielle Kastner and pianist Brian Felder. I first met them a few years ago at Twisted Vine in Chicago and fell in love with them and their music. They are wonderful people and so talented, too. When I learned they were fans of the first BOYSTOWN book, I asked them if I could write them into the ending of the second book. It was my small way of thanking them for their support and celebrating their talent. They agreed and, I think, were really excited to see themselves in the book interacting with BOYSTOWN's main characters. They appear again in the third book.

Also, singer Amy Armstrong has been a huge supporter of the BOYSTOWN series. In fact, she has given away copies of the books at many of her shows, not only here in Chicago but also in Indiana and even Mexico. To show my appreciation for all of her amazing support, I wrote her into book three as well. We artists need to support each other -- and I am so grateful for all the support and love I have been given.

I have always been a huge fan of Steve Grand. Not only is he very talented, but he is an inspiration and role model to me personally. He and I exchanged emails and I asked him if I could write him into my third book as a tribute to him. He graciously granted permission and so I wrote him in as the headline performer in the book's final scene.

Then, by fluke, I happened to be at a bar in Chicago one night and I met him there. It was his birthday and he was out celebrating. So I introduced myself to him and we talked for a while. It was great to final be able to chat with him in person. We talked about his birthday, his new album, and the BOYSTOWN books. We even took a few selfies together -- he is the self-proclaimed "selfie king." He’s a sweet, wonderful guy -- and from Chicago, too!

When BOYSTOWN makes it TV, I would love to Steve to write and perform the show's theme song. And I'd love for him to appear as himself in the series as well.

BOYSTOWN Season Three is available in paperback and all e-book formats through my website www.JakeBiondi.com. Autographed copies of the book are available through the site as well. I continue to encourage BOYSTOWN readers and fans to reach out to me. They may contact me through my website www.JakeBiondi.com, via Facebook, or on Twitter (@boystown_series).
