(OUTscene NW) RE-view; Berlin and Scandal Still 'Take my Breath away'!

Back in 1982, My sister purchased a new 45"-single from a Band I never heard, 'Berlin' called 'Sex, I'm a ...' and the music was so up-beat and sexy, the lyrics were Dirty, this was risque since the Hippest music, my parents let us listen to was Disco!

As someone who was entering puberty and discovering who I was, the fact that Berlin's Lead singer, Terri Nunn comes out and sings, 'I'm Bi!' was a huge draw. It came Full circle during the Homo-erotic 'Top Gun' with the Berlin's Chart-Topping. 'Take my breath away' during the love scene with (Not OUT) Tom Cruise and (Now OUT) Kelly McGillis!

Following the whole Pat Benatar era of the early 80's, came the Fierce-nest of Patty Smyth and Scandal's 'I'm a warrior'. Last summer before a Seattle Summer Outdoor screening of 'The Apple' they played the Scandal 'Warrior' video.

Fast-forward 25 years, and Both show up in Seattle's Snoqualmie Casino this past Sunday for a show that Rocked the ages.

I attended with Vincent and Carrie Stamper and we were all surprised to learn that we had Front Row Seats! We were just in time for Smyth's biggest Hits, 'Goodbye to You', and 'I'm a Warrior', Patty walked on to the main floor and came right up to us! Smyth is still in good voice and looks good for 54.

Later came Terri Nunn and Berlin looking Gorgeous (at 50) in Black spandex and a light glittery top.

She Rocked with the New wave classics, 'No More Words', 'The Metro', 'A Matter of Time', and  'Sex'. Her new song, 'Animal' is just as good! Nunn still show her Bi side by going up to girls in the audience for so close moments. One Girl even kissed her Feet!

The audience was an equal mix of Gay and straight, all in their 30's, 40's and 50's.

My Guest, Carrie Observed and Posted on Facebook on the next day:
So, I'm at the Berlin/Patty Smyth concert last night. I danced and danced and danced like it was 1987. The front row gave me a great perspective on the rest of the people in the venue. For most of the show they were all like dead fish...just standing/sitting there with glazed-over eyes, mouths hanging open. They seemed hesitant to cut-loose and have fun lest they be judged by the collection of peers in the room....you are missing out on life in ways you can't even imagine, and you don't get a second shot...my advice? Stop giving a sh*t about what other people think and dance like it's your last day on earth.

The Highlight of the show was the encore as they performed, 'Take my breath away'.  A woman who was sitting near by was celebrating her birthday with her Husband not with her. I asked her to dance and it was a perfect way to end a night that was 30 years in the making.
