The Calm before the storm in 2001 |

Ten years ago I had a vision of a site with quality GLBT news and Web TV programing (way before streaming video was the norm), in fact I even had a team in place with such notable Newsmen as Mike Bradbury, Brook Stanford, as well as Fresh talent in Samantha Starr and David Walker. As the site (QTalk) was being created we wanted to get the word out. So I approached the manager of the Gay Bar, Manray and he gave us the money to pay for our expenses. One expense was renting a Ford Mustang convertible and create a sign.
I also hired a cameraman to capture the parade, but the day was headed for disaster.
Issue #1, I borrowed my friends Black leather pants (They didn't fit) and then #2, the cameraman forgot to bring a tape (Back then you couldn't buy these tapes at the corner drug store). #3 it started to rain HARD. Sam and David were in the back seat (sharing an umbrella) and I was in the front seat, passenger side ducking my head under the wind shield. It rained for the remainder of the day, Even Mark 'Mom' Finley was soaked. My leather pants were soaked as I walked home alone.

The 2011 Team |
Obviously the timing wasn't right and the NET wasn't ready for web TV and the idea was put on the shelf. So after 8 years, I started OUTview and built it up slowly. This year we were ready to make an official debut to the Seattle Community by being a media sponsor and was ask to film the parade and we took one step further and streamed it LIVE. This time I approached my old friend, Doug and ask him to drive the OUTview Team in his 1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Spyder Convertible. As a sponsor, we were #43 in the line up and I could tell that some of the crowd were fans and others were curious. Ten Years of Patience Paid off and things keep getting better!
