FASHION: Washing Your Jeans May Be Waste of Time!

Not washing your jeans for months on end may be fashionable in some corners, but is it hygienic? Looks like it. A student in Canada wore his raw denim jeans for 15 months without washing them, then had the pants tested for bacteria at the University of Alberta. Results came back normal, reports dBune. He wore the pants another two weeks, washed them, and returned for testing. Results were the same.

That surprised the ecology professor who did the testing, notes CBC, though Rachel McQueen still thinks people ought to wash their jeans about once a month. The student, John Le, said his jeans did get a little smelly after the first few months of his experiment, which he solved by bagging them and sticking them in the freezer.
