Gen. Wesley Clark shot down objections to repealing DADT today, reports the Hill, calling wartime "the ideal time" to implement change "because we're talking about building teamwork around a common purpose." "It's just simply not a huge deal," he told This Week. Members of the armed forces cooperate based on "respect. They do it because of teamwork. They do it because of training. But ultimately, those bonds are about being an American and being a team member. ... They're not about sexual orientation."
"If you're going to make the decision, make the decision, get it over with and take us out of the middle of the game and give us six months or so to do the training and education and get ready so the leadership can handle this," Clark said.
I met Clark at a NY fundraiser for his 2004 Presidental Campaign in 2003, and was quite impressed I think he should have one over Kerry.
