Robert Tornambe is an animal-loving plastic surgeon ... and in a move that may not be too smart for his bottom line, he argues that it's wiser to get a dog than a facelift. Writing for the Huffington Post, he offers up 10 surprisingly logical reasons why:
A dog lasts longer: An average facelift lasts 5-10 years; an average dog lives 12.8 years.
A dog is cheaper: An average facelift will cost about $11,000; an expensive pedigree dog is more like $1,500, and shelter pups are free.
A dog is better for you: Dogs have been shown to increase lifespan, lower blood pressure, decrease stress, and lower cholesterol. "To date, no studies have been able to document any of the same health benefits from a facelift."
A dog might have better breath: "A puppy's breath is special and sweet; your plastic surgeon's breath is a crapshoot."
A dog is more entertaining: "You can teach your dog to do tricks; a facelift, not so much."
