From Sept, 3 through 6, the wedding of Christian and Oliver will take place on the German soap Forbidden Love.
Actors Thore Scholermann (Christian) and Jo Weil (Oliver) talked to Soap Opera Weekly about the big event.
Their reaction to the news that their characters would be getting married:
Weil: “I was more than happy! … Christian and Olli belong together and, with the wedding, a big wish comes true for many fans. … It’s the right decision for our characters. They had to prove their love in so many different situations and firmly stood together. We have been shooting the story for almost three years. In soap years, that’s almost an eternity. So it’s absolutely believable that they’d get married now in a great, big ceremony…. It’s absolutely special that we shpt the first church wedding for two men on a soap opera! It’s a great sign. Maybe we can encourage people watching to think differently. If we can accomplish that, it would be great. I am definitely proud of that. Thore and I are allowed to make this historic step with our characters.”
Scholermann: “It’s the first time I won’t just be standing [at a wedding] in the background, saying nothing. It will be our day. Hooray! … Christian and Olli went through so many difficulties and fought for their love … and Jo and I did that for our characters as well. We had good times but also bad times with [our] storyline where we didn’t know what would happen. So now we’re going to show the bright side of Olli and Christian’s love! … Christian and Olli want to spend their lives together. They need no marriage to be happy. But it’s a practical thing for their everyday life so why shouldn’t they get married?”
