POLITICS: Obama's Approval Hits New Low

President Obama’s approval rating dips to a new low in the latest Washington Post-ABC News poll. Just 43% approve of the job the president is doing, while 54% disapprove—including one-third of Democrats. Obama’s supporters aren’t very enthusiastic, either: Twice as many people gave him a strongly negative rating as gave a strongly positive one.

The president remains a lot more popular than anyone in Congress—only about seven in 10 voters had faith in either party there. Overall, respondents were close to evenly divided on whether they’ll back a Democrat or Republican in November’s House races, but that’s bad news for Democrats, who are defending far more seats. Even worse for Democrats is the strength of anti-incumbent fever—just 26% say they’ll vote for their current rep.
