‘Idol’: Elton John Turns Down $33 Mil to Replace Simon

Are they trying to replace one Man-Bitch with another?

Legendary performer Sir Elton John has reportedly said “No, sir” to a massive payday to fill Simon Cowell’s ‘American Idol‘ chair next season.

With Cowell’s final turn on ‘Idol’ nearing its end, Elton was offered $33 million to take a seat at the judges’ dais starting next year, a source told Access Hollywood.

It is unclear if the eight-figure offer was for a singular or multiple seasons. Whatever the case, that is some serious elevator shoe money.

Fox declined to comment on the alleged overture.

‘Idol’ wraps its current season on May 26. It is not until then that the popular (though by some accounts waning) reality competition will announce a successor for Cowell, who is leaving to develop a U.S. version of the Brit hit X Factor to premiere fall 2011, on Fox.
