(OUTview NW) MK's Exclusive Chat with Well-Strung's Edmund Bagnell on their Return to Seattle Next Week!

"Thrilled to be Back in Seattle!" (MvR Photography)
by MK Scott

Take this, a String Quartet plus vocal group of Young Gay men, called Well-Strung. Are they a Boy band? Are they a Chamber Group or a Singing String quartet? All the above, with a little Il Divo added! What a Revelation!

Had the pleasure of catching this group the last time they hit Seattle's Neptune Theater in November 2014.

If they hadn’t come up with a surefire concept, who knows where Edmund Bagnell (first violin) along with Christopher Marchant (second violin), Daniel Shevlin (cello) and Seattle Native, Trevor Wadleigh (viola) would be? All have classical music training and, with the exception of Marchant, who was performing 'Naked Boys Singing' in PTown.

I had a chance to catch up with Bagnell who gives us a preview of Well-Strung's return to the Emerald City's Neptune Theater next week:

MK Scott: Welcome back to Seattle! What have you been up to this past year?

Edmund Bagnell: We are thrilled to be back in Seattle. It was my first time there, and I fell in love with the city. It's been quite a busy year for us since we've been there. We released our second album (which charted on both the classical and pop charts), we made a several music videos, performed for the president, and toured constantly. It's been a crazy, cool, amazing year. Also, just celebrated our four year "anniversary" as a group while we were in Mexico last month.

MK: When I saw you guys last time, I was impressed with all of your music abilities,  How did you guys get started?

EB: We all have pretty diverse backgrounds musically, but I'd say we all had parents who supported our musical endeavors.

MK: What new material could we expect this time?

EB: Musically, we continue to seek material from artists that inspire us. Be they classical or pop artists. I'd say we draw from a more diverse range of pop artists than when we initially started. We're especially excited to debut a new arrangement of a Justin Bieber song we've been working on in Seattle.

Sorry Guys they are all Taken!      (Facebook)
MK: You guys like to sing and play songs from divas like Adele, Britney, etc Who is your favorite?

EB: I don't have a favorite pop artist, but my favorite classical composer is Mozart. I can't get enough!

MK: You are all Gay. Still Single?

EB: Not one of us is single! It's a Well Strung first!

MK: What's Next?

EB: More touring, and we continue to work on new arrangements constantly. We are excited to release some new tracks with music videos in the coming months, so be on the lookout for that.

See Bagnell and the rest of the guys in Well- Strung on Wed, March 16th @ 8p, Neptune Theater. Click STG Presents for Tix and Info.
