(OUTview NW) RE-view: This Year's HAM for the HOLIDAYS is One of the Bitchiest Ever!

Domenico dominated the SGMC sketch!     (Bennion)
By MK Scott

It is that time of year again that we get to Check IN with the Spudds and the Drama queens of the Sequim Gay Men's Chorus and more at Ham for the Holidays: Who's Afraid of Virginia Ham?  Always performed by Seattle comedy legends of Lisa Koch and Peggy Platt! Also last but not least the supporting talents of DJ Gommels and Michael Oaks, newcomer, Abbie Drake and the ripping beefcake of Joel Domenico (Judy's Scary Christmas, Robbie Turner Revue).

Once again (For 3 years in a row) with a larger budget at ACT Theater and a Full house, this comedy masterminds went from sketch after sketch with professional ease.

Besides the regular sketches of Spudds and Sequim (which were the best ever), the riverboat on the Duwamish was a Captain and Tennelle inspired river cruise to the industrial trash sites of the Duwamish River. Too Short but sweet sketch was the Three's Company meets Orange is the New Black parody. The Audience Participant portion was the Presential Family Feud (Koch as George W, Platt as Bill Clinton and Gommels as Trump's sister the judge) playing against 3 audience members. The Sequim Men's was all about PHFAG (Peninsula Housing For Aging Gays) with gold digging activity director, Rocco (Domenico).

The Spudds had a Bitch Contest; Guess who won? (Bennion)
Act 2 marks the return of Platt's Amy the green haired poet in a Slam session. As always, Koch's musical number was the heart of the show, dedicating it to her dearly departed father.

The Spudds closed with a Dynasty meets the Grinch sketch called 'How the Bitch Stole Christmas' with Platt as Euomi as Alexis, Koch as Wynotta as Steven and Sammy Jo. Michael Oaks as Krystal and Fermanda (Amanda and Fallon combo) and Gommels as Blake and  Ed Murray (as the Mayor of Whoville).

Of course, once again, hilarious Campy music videos played in between scenes.

One missed oppoertunity here, I would have loved to see Platt do a Kim Davis Parody. Now, that would be a scream!

Ham for the Holidays continues through December 20th at ACT's Falls Theater! click for TIX!
