(OUTscene NW) RE-view :Villiage People and KC team up for Boogie Night at Seattle's Snoqualmie!

by MK Scott
Even Though I was just a kid, I was so attracted to the sounds of Disco, and my personal favorites were the Bee Gees, Donna Summer and of course, the Village People and KC and the Sunshine Band. So when I heard they would be playing a Double Bill at Seattle's Snoqualmie Casino, I said Hell Yeah, I will be coming to potentially the Gayest night at SNO for the first time since Berlin in the Spring of 2012.

I was surprised when the Village People (the ultimate Kings of Disco) came out first and performed
Macho ManSan Francisco (You've Got Me), and In Hollywood.

But when only 2 out of the 6 members are Original members Felipe Rose (Indian) and Alex Brilley(Marine) and then have 4 New members Ray Simpson (Cop, since 1987),  Eric Anzalone (Biker) and Recently Jim Newman (Cowboy)  and Bill Whitefield (Construction Worker).

So it was apparent that the true talent was KC (Harry W. Casey) who even wrote a New Hit for the People with song Let's Go Back to the Dance Floor.

The Gay fans loved the tribute to Sylvester with  You Make Me Feel and when Brilley paid homage to Vets, the crowd roared to In the Navy with  Simpson now in a Navy uniform.

And Finally after a quick Tutorial, the audience joined them for a Festive  Y.M.C.A. with Rose in Full Head dress!

Then after a brief intermission, The disco multi-colored lights come as you hear the Black Eyed Peas'
I Gotta Feeling as the Sunshine Band take their positions and play an increbile intro as KC (Harry W. Casey) comes out singing 1976's Shake Your Booty. Before Miley was twerking, the word was called 'Shake your Booty. Even KC (as well as Michael Buble' and Josh Grobin at their recent concerts) made reference to Miley's Twerking. KC, now 62, looks, moves and sounds 20 years younger, despite being about 100 lbs heavier, which he blames on quitting smoking. After a little talk he continues the show by going back to 1977's Boogie Shoes and 1979's Yes I'm Ready.

More boogie with  I'm Your Boogie Man and Give It Up and a very upbeat Keep it Comin' Love.

And the Funky That's the Way (I Like It).

What was missing, well the encore was his biggest Hit ever with Get Down Tonight.

KC showed he is the ultimate King of Disco and we hope he will entertain us for 35 more years.
