(OUTscene NW) RE-view: Original Jersey Boy, Frankie Valli, 79, Rocks Seattle's SNOQUALMIE!

by MK Scott

The Summer of 1978 was a memorable time for Movie Music, coming from the soundtracks of Saturday Night Fever and Grease. The title track, 'Grease', was my first introduction to the talents of Frankie Valli. My Mom, who was a mega Elvis Fan, happened to have one 'Four Seasons' Album. I was an instant fan.

Who could forget the Hit Broadway show in 2005, Jersey Boys, I bought the Cast CD for my Boyfriend, but he wasn't a big fan of Valli or the show. So I kept the CD, and played it over and over to annoy him.

When I heard that Frankie Valli (Now 79) was going to play my favorite Concert venue, Snoqualmie Casino on August 8th, I had to be there.

There was no opening Act, it was just Valli with Four 20something Hunks as back up. The first was 'Grease' and Valli sounded just as he did in '78.

Songs were followed by Dawn, Tell It To the Rain, Put your loving hand out, My Eyes Adored You (1974) and Swearing To God (1975).

Valli then introduced several other songs from the 60's that other groups made famous, and from Valli recent 2007 solo  album, Romancing the 60s:  Fallen Angel,  Spanish Harlem, My Girl, Groovin', and Stay.

Frankie then recalled seeing the other Frankie (Sinatra) when he was age 6, and his favorite song the Cole Porter hit, I've Got You Under My Skin.

Then was back to the Hits of the Four Seasons with Silence Is Golden, Working My Way Back To You, Don't you worry bout me, Who Loves You (My Fave), December, 1963, Oh What a Night (1975) , Can't Take My Eyes Off You, Sherry, Walk Like A Man, Big Girls Don't Cry,  Bye Bye Baby. Valli also announced that Jersey Boys with be turned into a Movie, directed by Clint Eastwood. Valli never mentioned when it would be completed or released.

The show finished with Rag Doll and Let's Hang On.

Valli voice shined, only age slowed down his dancing. The Hunky back up, kept it going with plenty of Testosterone.  It was great to see the original Jersey Boy in action.

Special Thanks to Snoqualmie for the Photos!
